Advantages: Good sound effects, nice design, popular with babies

Disadvantages: Some parts are flimsy, expensive

I feel very smug in saying my absolutely daughter loves this garage, as my husband thought I was wasting money by buying it for her first birthday!

The Early Learning Centre is usually a reliable, if slightly expensive place to buy toys for my daughters age group, so when I spotted this I thought it would be a big hit with her, particularly as she loved playing with the garages at her friends houses.

The whole thing is really easy to put together and even I managed it without looking at the instructions, so it must be pretty simplistic! The main body is already assembled, it just needs a few bits added to make it complete. There are also stickers which can be put on the ramp to make it more garage like and colourful.

The first thing my baby liked about this garage was the noises it makes. She loves pressing the pumps which make an impressive glug glug sound, and has now progressed to pushing the lift up and down to get the satisfying whizzing sound. The garage also makes noises, and lights up when cars are pushed down the two ramps.

Coming with three little cars which are magnetic and can be attached together, these vehicles are chunky and sturdy and perfect for my daughters little hands to hold. She has chucked them at the floor countless times and they aren't broken yet, which I take as a good sign!

This is definately a favourite toy in our house and gets played with every day. My daughter has now had it three months and is beginning to play with much more purpose now and spends ages working out how to activate the sounds, and delights in pushing the cars down the ramp. She also uses the whole structure as a walker and pushes it around our living room.

Now for the negatives. The garage is very sturdy but the overhead height restricter keeps falling off as its a bit flimsy. It dosent affect the productivity in the least though. I also worried that my baby would outgrow this garage fairly quickly as its not very tall, meaning she has to crouch down or sit to play with it. Only time will tell if Im proved right though...

At the moment I'm glad I paid £40 for this garage. Yes its pricey, but its very appealing to my daughter, and not too annoying for me, compared to some head-wrecking toys I could mention...

Summary: A cracking first garage
