Advantages: Well-priced, sturdy, fun

Disadvantages: Trailer is not very good

We bought this trike for our daughters first birthday, but as she had plenty of toys to be getting on with we actually put it away until she was 15-months old.

At first she just sat on it but after a month or two she started to get the idea and now that she is 21-months old she has really gained confidence using it, and enjoys scooting across the floor and pretending to drive!

The version we have is the same as the one in the picture, except that the coloured bits are pink, making it more girlie, not that my daughter cares what colour it is!

My husband put this trike together in less than an hour, and since he's rubbish at DIY this was quite an achievement and he said it was really easy to assemble - at least he didn't have his usual rant while putting it together, so it must be quite straight-forward!

The trike is made out of a nice, solid wood and despite it being chucked around the place, it is still going strong and is showing no signs of wear or tear yet. It is very sturdy which has helped my daughter have fun with it as she rarely topples over, and when she does it's usually because she has been too enthusiastic with it.

The front wheels move when the handlebars do, so it's a nice way to teach toddlers how to interact with their toys, and the whole concept of cause and effect.

The trailer on the back just slots in with a little peg, and if I'm honest I took it off pretty much straight away as it was difficult to move around, kept coming apart, and made the whole thing take up too much space. I am sure my daughter would love carrying around her teddies though so maybe I should dig it out again!

This trike and trailer costs £38 from the Early Learning Centre, which is a good price for a wooden toy of this sort, but I picked it up on special offer for around £30, so I was chuffed with that!

My daughter uses this trike daily and has found inventive ways of using it for other purposes now, like a step to reach higher objects! All her little friends enjoy using it and I really think it has been one of the best value for use toys we own, plus it has no noises or lights which keeps me happy!

Summary: A good, solid investment!
