Advantages: cute, fun for a few minutes
Disadvantages: expensive, gets annoying
I bought the Fisher Price Bat And Wobble Penguin for my daughter when she was about six months old having had it recommended by a friend. To say I was disappointed in this toy is a real understatement and I feel its one of the worst toys I have so far purchased for my daughter.
The toy is an inflatable penguin and must be blown up before giving to your baby, it takes no time at all to inflate luckily. When inflated I would say it stands at about 16" tall which was a nice surprise. The base of the penguin is thick plastic rounded bottom, like a semi circle and this is where the batteries are placed. The body of the penguin is textured so its lovely for the baby to feel and the tummy of the penguin is clear plastic so the baby can see inside where there are brightly coloured balls. This toy follows the Fisher Price standard, with the cute face, yellow beak and three little tufts of colourful hair on the top of the head.
Your baby plays with the penguin by baiscally batting him about, and he rocks back and forth without falling over - it takes quite a bit of force to knock him over which a baby would find quite difficult! I would describe it as like a really big weeble (weebles wobble but they don't fall down). When he is knocked he makes a woo hoo noise and plays a fun tune. While he is wobbling the balls move around in his tummy, but thats about it. There is a switch on the back of the penguin to turn it on or off, and when the giggling and music has gone on for so long I admit I have turned it off but its still playable - just quiet! There is only one tune with this toy, which I think is a little disappointing and it would have been improved with a couple more tunes in my opinion.
While this is a very cute toy, very hard wearing and quite fun for baby, I personally think the price is quite steep at around £25.00. It is disappointing how little this toy actually does in my opinion and I feel it was money wasted unfortunately. The penguin is recommended from six months+ which i think is quite accurate as it is fun for the baby to bat it around once they are sitting up.
I would recommend the toy if you can get it at a cheaper price, as it is cute and your baby will enjoy it I would say but I think £25 could be better spent personally!
Summary: not great!
