‘Bounce and spin zebra by Fisher Price’.
I first discovered this toy from my sister as she was given this toy for Ben my nephew to have by a friend as there child was not really interested in it. But my nephew who was around 18 months old when my sister received it absolutely loved it and was always jumping around on it.
My sister is a childminder so she looks after many children in a day and she said that they all took a shine to it and they would not want to play with anything else but that. They would crowd around waiting for there turn to go on it. I think they were all around the same age from 18 months to 2years.
I knew that I would get one for Ella my daughter when she was big enough as she loved the music and sound effects that it made. She would sit and watch Ben jumping up and down on it looking really amazed.
Her 1st birthday was coming up and the age range on the bounce and spin zebra says 12months +.
So I suggested it to my dad when he asked me if there was anything that I wanted for her. But I was still thinking she was a little too small for it as I would sit her on it and bounce it for her and she would love it but she could not do it unattended as she could not quite reach the floor. So I think it will be different for every baby according to size and weight, as Ella is quite small anyway.
Eventually I said yes to get it for her. So she got it for her 1st birthday. My dad bought it from The Early Learning Centre using my 20% off birthday voucher and saved some money. But it costs without the voucher around £45.
They sell this toy in many places like Toys R us, Amazon, Mothercare, Argos and many other places and the price range is usually around the same price.
My dad and my brother in law put it together on her birthday. I was quite busy being that it was her birthday so I did not see much. But it looked very straightforward. With just a few screws to be put in and the rest clicked into place.
My one cane with batteries I do not know if they all come with batteries. It requires 3 AAA’s.
Features and benefits
This lively zebra really encourages baby’s physical development through bouncing, spinning, and having a ball! Fun sounds, delightful songs and dancing lights reward movement while enhancing eye-hand coordination, motor skills, balance and coordination. The wide, sturdy base offers stability, and the easy-grip handlebar features busy activities for added fun.
• Strengthens gross motor skills as your child learns to climb on, balance & bounce.
• Activities on handlebar enhance eye-hand coordination & fine motor skills.
• Dancing lights & colourful toys offer visual stimulation.
• Fun music & sounds strengthen auditory skills.
• Baby’s actions make things happen, teaching about cause & effect.
The music and sounds on this zebra are really great and really catchy. I enjoy them myself and I find myself dancing around when they come on.
This product has the lion mark. The Lion Mark is a symbol of Toy Safety. I found this information from the Argos website.
I think this toy has been out for a while in America as on the Fisher Price website it said it was an award winner of 2002. But this is quite new in the U.K.
So now we go back to my story. After all the excitement of her birthday being over she would go from toy to toy. She would play with the handle bar activities on the zebra but she could not get on it and bounce on it by herself. So I would have to place her on it and bounce her when she showed interest in it. I did not mind this as she enjoyed it.
Eventually over a course of around 2 to 3 weeks after her birthday she started to try and get on by herself. And then she did it eventually.
Then over time she started to bounce it and she looked so pleased with herself and she kept on going and going and getting higher and higher.
She has now had it for around 5 weeks and she goes on it everyday and building more and more confidence every day. She dances around to the music, spins the toys and jumps around.
So it was a great buy and will most definitely last her a few years.
I would recommend anyone who has a 1 year old to get one of these if you have the space for it, it could always be put to one side in the evening.
That is even if they cannot do it themselves as they will learn and you can help them out.
I can also safely say that the paint on this fisher price toy is safe and is not one of the toys affected by 'dodgy' paint as I have had a look.
Thank you very much for reading and I hope this helps you with your decisions.
