My daughter was bought this for her first Christmas and at six weeks old she was a little small so I put it away and brought it out about four months later. For younger children the toy lays flat on the floor so they can sit and play with the spinners and clickers. Each different piece seems to make a different noise in order to reward the child for his or her efforts, therefore encouraging development. At this age, as a toy it was fine. A little large for what was essentially an activity centre.
The problems came when my daughter got older and started pulling herself up on the furniture to move around. I put it into its 'walker' position thinking it would be good to help her walk along. How wrong was I, every time she tried to pull herself up, it would tip over and she would land on her bum, defeated but luckily not hurt. I thought it was best to put away for a little while until she was steadier on her feet. So at about 13 months she was starting to walk and I thought 'it should be fine now as a walking aid but not for stability'. Wrong again, whenever she went to push it along it would go forward far too fast resulting in a bruised chin. I have carpet at home but if I'd had a wooden floor I would hate to think how badly she could have been hurt.
It has now been resigned to the cupboard, and probably to the tip once I get round to having a clear out. I would normally put any toys in reasonable condition in the paper, but I couldn't sell this knowing what an accident it is waiting to happen.
The only other point is, should you be thinking about buying this, it is a nightmare to clean. Behind all the spinner and clickers, the plastic dips in. Dirt collects in there and you can't clean it very well because the spinners are in the way. You would need some sort of muck dissolving solution or tiny fairy hands to clean it.
This toy produced by Fisher Price is the perfect toy for children who are finding their feet for the first time. It has a wide wheel base and a sturdy handle to make it easier for the child to grab hold of as they are strolling along. There are 3 different tunes that play while the child is dtrolling along to reward them for their progress because as soon as the child stops moving the music stops to.
A roller bar, Spinner and a flipbook are on the front of the toy to add to the fun when the child is having a rest from all the hard work. It is brightly coloured which catches the childs eye, there is also plenty of little attatchments on this toy for the child to play with if they are not walking around.
I found that this product cost around £20.00 maybe slightly more depending where you get it from but it is defanatly worth the money as it helps the children develop the most important part of their development in life.
For early learning play, the activity walker folds down for floor play and for the busy baby can push the walker around.
