Advantages: bright fun toy
Disadvantages: Paper seat can't be cleaned easily
My daughter received the pink version of the Laugh and Learn chair for Christmas last year (she was 13 months at the time). I don't know how much my dad paid for it, but it retails at approx £40 and is available from Argos and Toys R Us. The chair also comes in a unisex green colour, but as my daughter loves pink (and so do I!) she had the pink version.
The age suitability is 12 months plus - however I don't see any harm in a slightly younger infant using it, provided he/she can sit unaided and is supervised.
The chair comes flat packed and takes about five minutes to assemble - it is literally clicking the legs in etc. and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
The chair is a bright colour, with a smiley face on the back (where the child's back rests when sitting). It has a circular pad on the seat of the chair which is pressed when the child sits on it - this is how the chair recognises when it is being used and says things like "hello", "bye bye", "you're sitting on the chair" or "you're getting off the chair". The downside is that the pad is covered in a picture made of paper, and I found that this meant it couldn't be cleaned easily and it became worn very quickly.
The rest of the chair is wipe clean and plastic, so very easy to keep clean. Next to the actual chair is an attached 'table' which has moulded books and a drawer on the side as decoration. The top of the table has a working oval shaped lamp which can be pressed, a plastic five page book entitled 'Puppy's Day' and four plastic crayons which can also be pressed. There are also holes where I assume the speaker is, and a switch to turn the unit on or off, and to change between singing and learning.
The lamp turns on and off depending on the mode, and the book is read aloud depending on the mode. The book is clear and colourful and my daughter loves it despite not being able to read. The chair has 3 modes - singing, alphabet and learning.
My daughter is 21 months now and she still absolutely loves this chair. It is a brilliant toy. The only thing I would suggest is that supervision is necessary - as toddlers love to climb and might use it as a step to something else! It is also quite slippery and easily slides across our laminate with or without her on!

Summary: A great buy!
