Disadvantages: none
I think my children have too much but I still cant stop shopping. My new daughter however cant have alot because my older daughter had it all and it will be passed down.
This cookie jar was my daughters favourite toy when it was bought for christmas 2 years ago. The music was cheaful and made her laugh. This is your shape sorter in the way that it has shapes that you put in the right shaped holes but this one plays music and looks child friendly.
I payed £12.99 for this from boots which also helped me build up my points on the advantage card. It stood out to me because it was in a medium sized box with the shapes at the side of the cookie pot. It was a fisherprice toy so I was assured by the name that it would be a trusted toy.
This was a yellow bowl shaped tub with a purple base and a plastic purple lid. The front of the cookie jar had a smiling face with a red nose. It has 5 different shaped holes around the bowl part one heart, one triangle, one square, one star and one circle. Each hole has a button in it so that when you push the shape through the cookie jar will sing and the red nose flashes to the music.
The shapes are different colours which means you are able to teach them the colours when they are playing and the shapes also have numbers on them so the are able to learn the basic numbers in play too. The lid of the cookie jar comes off and you can put all the shapes in the top or take them out, when this is done it starts singing a cookie jar song. This song my daughter thought was very funny and would bounce on the spot and giggle.
This has been dropped on many occasions because it was difficult for my daughter to carry when she was 1 and now she is two she tends to kick it or throw it. Although it has been thrown about it is very hard wearing it looks brand new no dents or pieces missing. I have only had to change the batteries in this once in 3 years it takes 4 aa batteries and they last for a long time. The batteries are in the bottom of the cookie jar. There is one button on the front of the cookie jar which is a volume control button which is off, volume 1 and volume 2 which is slightly louder.
This is a very basic first hard toy. The parts are very safe so your child will not swallow them or break them. It is very colourful and has a flashing light to keep the children amuzed. It has big basic shapes for a child to hold and place in the jar. It plays music that is chearful and has a song that they will learn. It helps the child learn shapes, colours and numbers. I think this is a good toy that is worth buying for a child over the age of 8 months and will last them till they are three. It is hardwearing and is able to be passed down to other children when your child no longer wants to play with it.
Summary: Great first hard toy for children 8 months up
