      Very helpful

      A good starter phone

We bought this toy from our local Asda store for approx £6, this is part of the Fisher Price Link-a-doos range which is a series of plastic rings and toys which can be clipped together so that they cane be hung in different places such as off a cot or carseat or they can be played with on their own.

The link-a-doos phone is approx 3 inches x 2 inches and is mainly red in colour, the phone has a blue cord hanging loop on the top of it where links can be connected, the phone came with a yellow plastic link. The bottom of the phone has a blue half circle of plastic on it again where a link could be connected and little hands can hold on. The sides of the phone are yellow and ridged which allows little hands to get a good grip of the toy which I think is a great thought. On the top half of the phone there is a silver foiled look semi circle which has a smiley face on it, the foil reflects the light which attracts little eyes.

The main keyboard of the phone is made of soft fabric and you can feel little buttons under the surface, the surface has the numbers 1 to 4 on it in little colourful squares and there is 4 little pictures in the corners, a cat, a dog, a bird and a bell. When the cat is pressed the phone meows, when the dog is pressed the phone woofs, when the bird is pressed the phone tweets and when the bell is pressed there sounds 4 rings and then a little tune. The buttons are very easy to press and my daughter had no problems making the phone work, the phone is strudy and wipes clean apart from the keypad part.

The phone is supposed to be for ages 12 months and up to my daughters was playing with this from about 6 months and now she is 15 months and she no longer has any interst in it and she loves phones and pretending she is making calls, perhaps she sees Mummy on the phone too much! My daughter played with thid for probably about 6 months before being completely bored with it and it hasn't run out of batteries, there isn't a battery compartment so I presume once it stops working that is it although your child could still pretend play with it. I don't think this phone would keep a one year old very amused and I think apart from the slight risk of your child hitting themselves over the head with the toy that it can easily be used by younger children. The phone is brightly coloured in the primary colours apart from on the keypad which introduces more colours. The phone is cute and it is a good idea you can hang the link-a-doos from things for your baby to play with so I would recommend the toy but for a baby a little younger than one year old.
