Advantages: A sturdy attractive toy
Disadvantages: The jingle
My eldest son got two of these for his second birthday, one of which I regifted, I sometimes wish I had kept it now to reduce the bickering. I asked my parents to get this for my son as I wanted him to have some more toys that would give him chance to use his imagination.
He was very excited when he opened it. Although it isn't particularly brightly coloured, it being mostly white, it is quite a cheerful little plane, with a smiley face at the front. It comes with a pilot and two tourists I think, the people are now mixed in with everything else so I'm not too sure whether one of them was an air hostess or not. There are also a couple of items of luggage to load on and off.
The plane is quite chunky and hard for a small child to "fly" it round the room above their heads, there is a handle on top so it's easy to carry round with you. The door opens and closes but the aeroplane is open topped so children can load in their passengers either way. The aeroplane has a seat that you press down to hear a few phrases and a happy jingle with a couple of flashing lights, this can get incredibly annoying if it's pressed time and again. The people are small and chunky and easy for young children to handle, they don't have any moveable parts but this doesn't seem to bother my son. They are easy to stand up, which reduces the frustration levels as they don't keep falling over. The seats in the aeroplane have little nodules which fit neatly into holes on the underside of the people, this keeps them in place when the aeroplane is carried around. The plane's undercarriage is permanently in place so it can be used as a road vehicle as well.
It is made of sturdy plastic which is very durable. The problem that I have with this plane is that because of the electrics you can't give it a good scrub in the sink but it really need to be scrubbed from time to time as inside there are two seats that move up and down, presumably to help with the turbulence, and these are quite hard to clean with a damp cloth.
The Fisher Price, Little People, Lil Movers Aeroplane has certainly had a lot of use in this house. My eldest son still plays with it a year and a half on with a huge amount of imagination, my sixteen month old fights to play with it too, although he generally pushes it around, which is what he's doing right now. This is a good product which has stood up to various children, mine and visiting ones, hurling it over the back of the settee and down the stair etc. I would recommend this as a popular toy for children up to the age of about 7 and a strong and durable toy. Five stars from a childs perspective, four from an adult's due to the annoying jingle.
Summary: Worth buying for your child, or someone elses
