My youngest Oscar who is 2 and a half years is obsessed with Mickey Mouse, for his 2nd birthday in November and Christmas he received a whole bundle of Mickey Mouse playsets, one of which was this Campervan set.The playset retails at around £30, but I brought while on sale for £18. In the box you will receive quite alot which you will find really adds to the play. You will receive:
*2 figures (Mickey & Pluto)
*Toodles road sign with mystery disk
*Table and chairs
The set is made by Fisher Price and is recommended for ages 2 years up. It requires no assembly and no batteries, so just removing the annoying cable ties. The campervan is made from plastic. It is mainly red with yellow detailing, and has open style windows at the front and sides. It also features a fully opening door, pull out green visor, 2 prongs on the top of the campervan to hold the raft in place and a small storage space at the back for the table. The campervan also opens up, where you will then see a kitchen, this is quite detailed with lots of pictures of food inside the fridge that even has a small handle so can be opened. In the centre is the sofa that flips over so can face inside the campervan. On the right hand side is a set of bunk beds, above the beds is a small platform for the telescope. The campervan has 4 fully moving wheels so can be moved around. It is a very good size at 10 inches long, 5 inches wide, when opened it opens as far as 18 inches. Mickey is 3.2 inches high and is also made from plastic, in a red/yellow outfit equipped with a backpack and torch.
Oscar loves this set, is bright, easy to grasp with his small chunky hands and contains lots of extras to further his play and encourage his imaginative play. The many accessories means you do not need to add other sets to this, as playsets go, this one has enough to keep Oscar entertained, keeping his hands and brain busy. The playset is very well built, 2 of the other Mickey playsets we own are of quite poor quality so I wasn't expecting too much from this, but I was happy with the quality, and it has taken a bit of bashing so far. The features are all very easy and Oscar can play with ease.
My only negative with this set is that the accessories don't fit inside the campervan when Mickey goes travelling, so its hard to keep everything together.
Would I buy this again? Most definitely, Oscar loves it, as does his 5 year old brother. Great quality, lots of extras and well built. I do believe it is currently reduced in Argos.
Shortly after Christmas my sons pooled their Christmas money from Granny and bought this between them.
My youngest already had the Mickey mouse Clubhouse set, + extra figures so this was a great addition to the set. We bought this at Smyth's for £24.99. It is also available at Amazon, but is currently £49.99 + £6.00 shipping.
The Mickey Mouse Camper van comes with figures of Mickey and Pluto. Mickey is dressed in red cap, a yellow shirt, red shorts and red braces, and is just the slightest bit smaller then the Mickey figure that came with the Clubhouse. You also get a row boat, a ladder a picnic table and two chairs, a bbq a telescope and a Mousekadoer with one disk which is interchangeable with the disks in the clubhouse Mousekadoer. Our Mousekadoer is brown and made to look as if it is made of wood, but some pictures show a yellow one so this may vary. The disk shows the ingredients for hot dogs and then the finished hot dog on the other side in images that show up when this is placed behind the red plastic screen.
The camper splits in the middle to reveal two bunk beds and a small kitchenette with refrigerator and sink. the seats for the camper flip over to act as a couch for the camper. There is also a Handy helper which when pushed will shove the table or other gear out of the secret compartment under the bottom bunk, and a green awning that pulls out. Everything stores away inside the camper except the ladder and the boat which clip onto the top.
My sons both love this. They love any type of vehicle anyway and have great fun driving this about the house. The fact that it has Mickey makes it even more fun and this set has really seen a lot of use. My oldest son ( age 5) says he likes the part to shoot the table out of the compartment and to make this turn somersaults ( it will roll over nicely). My youngest (2) just loves driving it about and putting all the things in and out or taking different toys for a ride. This is very sturdy and well made and tolerates the children leaning on it, rolling it about and even the odd crash with no signs of damage. the wheels move easily making it race across the floor without problems. While it is easy enough to open, it does not seem to just pop open during play often. We really love the dvd with Mickey's trailer and while this is not exactly a trailer, it is the next best thing.
I can not find any fault in this set, except that it would be nice to include Donald too. this isn't a problem for us as we have the whole set, but you just can not have a proper camp out for Mickey without Donald to lose his temper about everything! I do think the set is a bit expensive, but for the price we paid, I think it is fair enough as this is a toy I expect will last as long as the boys are young enough to play with toys like this and then go onto to another child afterwards. I am happy enough to pay a bit extra for a well made toy rather then have sad children when cheaper ones break! My youngest has seen me looking at this for the review and taken it away from me, telling me it is not mine. He has since sat down to happily play with it again, with his brother coming to join in. So this gets 5 stars from em as lovely well amde toy with plenty of play value.
