I really like Fisher Price's range of Ocean Wonders baby toys and activities as they all feature really nice bright colours and cute looking animals! My son has had a few toys from the collection incuding the Ocean Wonders Baby Bouncer which was fantastic, so I was very keen to buy this Ocean Wonders Crib-to-Floor Piano toy for him to start to explore.

He was 3 months old when I bought this for him at Christmas time and it is a toy that is suitable from Birth and can be used both in your baby's cot and also on the floor. It comes with ties for you to easily attach it to the cot and the idea is to place it at the bottom of the cot within reach of your babies feet so that they can kick away which then causes the piano to light up and play nice music. Every time a different key on the piano is pressed, a different tune is played so you don't really get to hear a continuous tune because of course your baby will be kicking different keys as they play so the piano keeps switching from song to song. The parts of the piano that light up are the sun and the little red bird at the top of the piano and the lights aren't greatly noticeable unless it is being played with in the dark.

My son didn't seem to get the idea of kicking the piano at all and I would have to move his legs myself to get him to do it, so I tried tieing the piano at the side of his cot so that he could press the keys with his hands instead and he did enjoy this a lot more than having it down by his feet. We quickly moved the piano out of his cot and onto the floor for him to play with instead when we could see it wasn't really being a big hit with him and he was just getting to the stage of lying on his tummy to play and learning to lift his head up. So I would place him on his tummy within reach of the piano to play with. But again he spent very little time playing with the toy and it clearly wasn't amusing for him at all.

I did find that the toy is very quiet even when on the loudest setting so that along with the dim lights could be why it wasn't entertaining my baby. The colourful animals are really cute and well illustrated which I liked but my son sadly didn't get any entertainment from this piano and spent more time being sick on it than he did playing with it. The piano part of the toy is covered in soft fabric which is thankfully easy to wipe clean as ours did get very sicky at some points. The toy takes 3 X AA Batteries which do seem to last well, but in our case it could be because it's hardly been played with. My son is now 11 months old and still not interested in the piano at all so I doubt we'll be hanging onto it much longer.

The toy has clearly been manufactured for younger babies to start their exploration and playtime skills, but sadly it failed to tick these boxes for my son. Such a shame because as I say it is a really cute and colourful looking toy.
