Fisher Price Press and Go Train
This was one of the larger toys that my partner and myself bought for Jack this gone year, his first Christmas. Every boy needs to have a train set and this one looked fantastic and was helped by the fact that Woolworth's, where we bought it, had it at a reduced price for £19.99p. I have seen it go back up to £25 since Christmas but at other places such as Amazon you are able to get it at the cheaper price all the time.
To look at the Press and Go Train you will see that it comes in two parts the front part that has the steam engine attached and then the second part that can be added on or taken away, just like a real carriage of a train.
The first part of the train with the engine on has two different sections where you can place on the Peek-a-blocks. These are small plastic cubes that contain different things. The six different Peek-a-blocks that came with this train are all along a circus theme and include lions and clowns and such like. You can place the Peek-a-blocks on the first part of the engine this part takes the block up and down as the train moves along. The second place to put a Peek-a-block allows what's inside the block to spin around and around. With this section you have to make sure you put the right Peek-a-block on as some cannot spin around but the ones with two holes in the bottom can.
The second section of the train is the detachable carriage and this can hold three different Peek-a-blocks at a time and when the train is moving along two slide up and down on a sort of see saw motion and one can be held on a drop down holder at the very end of the carriage. This whole carriage is held on by a hole on the carriage end and a pin like part on the steam engine end. It can easily be unhooked but stays on well when in motion.
The whole train is very brightly coloured with the main colours being red and yellow on the steam engine part and blue and green on the separate carriage. The train can move along when you press the spout of the steam engine and two rubberised wheels move around and thrust the train forward. The train moves well on both laminate floor and carpet. There are two tunes played by the train and as these are played small red LED lights flash on and off. When you put a Peek-a-block on the part that spins around this will set the music and lights off but the train will stay stationary.
Jack is not quite crawling yet but does try and reach out and follow the train when it's in motion. He loves setting off the music and lights and really enjoys playing with this train and I think when he starts to crawl he will enjoy it more as he will be able to scoot off after it.
The toy train is designed for ages 6 months and over and is very easy to clean with a damp cloth. The whole thing is very hard wearing but the batteries have already needed changing from Christmas so 3 AA batteries don't seem to last very long but then with the music, movement and lights always being set off it is not that surprising.
The fact that this is one toy from the Fisher Price Peek-a-blocks range makes this appealing too. We have a few other toys from this range that means we have tons of those little plastic blocks kicking around and they all can be swapped over and used for each different toy. Jack loves to shake the ones that make a noise and is always staring at the different animals or objects inside the blocks.
I cannot fault this Press and Go train and I think for the price it is well worth it. It looks like it has been made to last a long while and Fisher Price are a really good company in making these sorts of toys for children. I would say the whole Peek-a-block range is well worth investing in and is good for both girls and boys as there is such a range of toys to choose from. The train however is the best from the Peek-a-block range that we have and I do think that it is Jacks favourite one.
10/10 for the Fisher Price Press and Go Train with Peek-a-blocks. A good investment for your child's learning today and tomorrow!
I hope this has been of some help, thanks for reading xxx
