Fisher Price Rocking Horse and Stroller
Advantages: Lovely toy
Disadvantages: Can be unstable
My daughter received this for her second birthday we did not actually realise it was a stroller I just knew she would love a rocking horse for hers baby dolls as she was really enjoying all the different accessories for them.
What is it?
This is a lovely horse made of solid plastic in white, pink, purple and green colours all very girly and pretty. The horse can be used two ways on a rocking bar provided with the toy or as a stroller when the bar is attached to the back of the horse. There is a seat to accommodate a medium sized doll and then Velcro straps that wrap around the dolly's waist to hold them in place. Also there are handles bars for the doll to rest their hands on and 2 small holes to slid dolly's hand in so they sit up straight while being pushed on the horsey.
The horse is a fair size great for a toddler to play with there are no complicated features apart from changing the horsed from rocking horse to stroller that my daughter cannot do herself and it entertains her for hours. There are plastic wheels on the bottom of the horse to allow it to roll well when being pushed around. These are fantastic they do not stick and get stuck when my daughter is pushing it along and they work well on both carpeted flooring and wooden flooring.
The seat for the horse and the strap that holds the doll in place is a good size and my daughter has used a range of dolls to play with this toy as there is not actually one provided with it. She has used everything from her small fisher price first doll to the larger baby Annabel all which fit well and sits well.
How to play?
There are two ways to play with this toy
As a rocker - This is what we initially brought this toy for this method of use it comes pre assembled so you just have to take the horse out the box. You simply lay the bottom bar on the floor and then there are 4 grooves moulded in the bar for the horses wheels to sit. As the bottom of the bar is curved little one one can simply push the horse back and forth and it rocks simple as that.
The only problem with this is as it does not actually attach to the bar and it just sits in the spaces provided for the wheels it can be very unstable and if you rock too hard the horse falls off the bar. Also my daughter always tries to pick up the rocking horse and these results with her having to re balance the horse once she locates to her new spot. This can be frustrating for a younger child but as she has got a little older she knows what to expect and rather than getting annoyed just replaces the horse back to the required place.
As a stroller- This was a nice added extra as we ordered online I did not actually realise that it converted to a stroller. The bar that sits on the bottom of the horse for the rocking horse can be lifted and inserted into 2 small clips at the very back of the horse. This is very easy to do and takes all of 10 seconds. Then the horse has been converted into a stroller and little one can use the solid structure to push along the horse and get a little support to walk as they do.
Although my daughter was 2 when she received this and already a strong walker she absolutely adores putting her dolly on the horse and walking around pushing them. Between this and her pushchair her dolly can now follow her anywhere and she is never without one of the two.
The height of the handles was perfect for my daughter when she first got it and she is 3 now and although she is starting to outgrow it she can still push it comfortably.
Both ways provide great fun for my daughter and she really does use this toy every single day without fail.
How well does it last?
We have had this for over 13 months now and it is still in perfect condition. No scratches or anything else to show any signs of wear and as it is plastic you can just wipe it down and it looks brand new again. Although it does not receive as rough play as my boy's toys do this has still been used every single day and is still going strong. My youngest son also tries to sit in the chair although way to small for even his bum to sit on it has still had the pressure of his weight on it and is in one piece.
This doll rocking horse retails at around £20 and is suitable from ages 2 plus although it can be used from a younger age as my little boy is 18 months old and gets on well with it. There are no small parts or bits that could hurt little one and if it could be used a little earlier it would pro long the life of this toy.
Over all we really love this toy although the function of a rocking horse can be very frustrating for my daughter she adores it when the bars are attached for it to be pushed along. My youngest son also likes to walk around the house pushing one of his sisters dolly's when she lets him have a chance.
Summary: A lovely toy that my daughter thinks is amazing
