An absolute favourite in our house!

This is my son's absolute favourite toy! He got it for Christmas at which point he was 10 months old. His Dad assembled it which was really simple, and inserted the 4 size C batteries. It whirred into life and my little boy started to cry. He spent all of Christmas day being petrified of it as it is very noisy, however, by boxing day, he had got used to it and played with it for ages. As babies tend to do, he didn't play with it as intended at first and couldn't grasp the concept of rolling the two cars that are included down the ramp where they are spun around in a motorised basin before being spat out down another ramp and under the finish line. Instead, he enjoyed carrying the cars around the house with him and hiding them. He also learnt to set the motor going by pulling on the lever at the front of the speedway, he would then simply press down on the basin to stop it fom spinning. He got hours of entertainment from this. As he has got older, he has learnt to play with the speedway properly and sends the cars down the ramp with no problems. It is proving to be very educational for him as well as he has started experimenting with putting other toys such as megabloks in the basin to see what happens. This toy gets played with every single day and is definitely his favourite. If I don't get it out r him, he goes and try's to pull it down from on top of his toy box!

The speedway also has spinners and things to turn on the front and lights up and plays car revving sounds when in use. It is rather large when assembled and an awkward toy to find a home for when tidying up. It uses the batteries quite quickly as the motor uses a lot of power. As it is made by Fisher Price, I have found it to be of excellent quality and I can see this being a firm favourite for a long time to come. It is aimed at 6 months and upwards and although a baby of this age may not get the full benefits of this toy, they will find fun in it in someway and will grow into its full features. In my opinion, a must have!

      Fisher Price spinning speedway

Of the many car related toys my son got this Christmas this speedway is one of the best and one of my favourites. It is a Fisher Price toy and comes in just three parts so is very easy to put together.

The track consists of a big bowl shaped track in the middle with one ramp that starts from up high and one ramp that goes downwards towards the finish flag.

The set came with two cars, a red one and a blue one that have a big ball in the middle of them which help them to zoom down and around the track. In order to play you start the car at the top of the ramp and let it go. When it runs down the ramp it drives over a sensor which activates the lights that go round the track. This makes it look cool and exciting and like a proper racing track. The middle section of the track spins around also once this sensor is activated and has a swirly line on it so it makes it look like it is going really really fast. When the car falls into this section it spins around and jumps around a bit, much like when you put a coin in one of those swirly machines to watch it spin around. Eventually the car finds its way out and makes it down the final track and through the finishing flag.

The lights and spinning middle stop a few moments after this and only start again once you put another car down the ramp. there is also an off button on the right hand side of the track under the bowl.

There are nice little additions to this track such as a crowd scene round the edge of the track, flags that you can fly and wheels to turn and little beads to spin around.

The speedway takes 4 C batteries and costs £38 and is a toy I definitely recommend.
