Advantages: great fun, bright, colourful, stimulating

Disadvantages: a bit difficult to put together

This toy is great fun and has been enjoyed by both my daughters from the age pf 9 months onwards.

It is very strong and sturdy, made by Fisher Price of which I am a great fan anyway.

When you bring it home it is in a number of separate plastic components which all slot together fairly well although you do need to be quite strong and forceful to make them fit. Once you have overcome this challenge you should end up with a lovely helter skelter toy for your child to push balls through a hole at the top, roll down the slide triggering lights and music as they go. There are four different coloured balls. The children love this and then finally there is the excitement of which exit they will come out of at the bottom. The children love guessing which one it will be and looking for the balls to emerge!

This toy is recommended for ages 9 months and older which is a good age as that is when they seem to start pulling themselves up and the ball blast encourages them to do so. For an average 9 month old baby tha toy comes up to about mid chest height. Although the earliest age recommended is 9 months it does keep older children entertained too. My 18 month old adores pushing the balls down and squeals with excitement as they go down. My three year old is a lot more sophisticated and likes to predict where the balls will end up.

Although I think this toy is great it does take up quite a bit of floor space as a lot of toys do for this age so you do need a bit of space.

At the moment it seems to be selling for betwen £18 and £20 and needs three AA batteries.

Summary: a stimulating toy to encourage babies to start standing
