Advantages: No too large sturdy bright toy that encourages children to stand and get good co ordination

Disadvantages: Can be quite tricky to initially set up

I brought one of these for my son about 5 years ago and although i have now given it to my young nieces it's still going strong. I brought this for my son's first christmas.

This is a toy that stands about 50 cms high and at the top it's like a steering wheel where children are able to hold on to. Then underneath it's like a helter skelter and once a ball is pushed the the hole in the center of the top then this is where it goes around and down until it gets to the bottom and comes out of one of the four holes. It is quite tricky to slot all the bits together but once this is done there's no further adjusting to do. It's made by Fisher Price and i have always liked their quality for toys that i have brought for my little ones. When a ball is pushed through the top then it can trigger sounds and lights whilst it travels along the track.

It was many features with this particular toy that i thought were positive and my son would really enjoy playing with. First of all he was at the age where he was beginning to pull himself up to stand against the sofa. This being a large and sturdy construction i knew he would be safe to pull himself up on without it breaking. Also i like that fact that it encouraged hand and eye co ordination as to picking up the balls from the bottom and putting them into the top hole at the top of the toy. There are five different coloured balls with these and i have used these to encourage recognition of the basic colours.

This toy also has no little bits and pieces that can be put in little one's mouths so it is totally safe to play with.

My children loved playing with this and now that my nieces have it they love playing with it too.

You can still purchase these toys today and they sell for around £20 from good toy stores such as argos, toys r us and amazon.

Summary: My children loved this when they were young, it's great from around 9 - 12 months up.
