Fisher Price Walk and Ride Lion.....
Before Jack could even stand I was buying up toys such as this to help him on his way to be a little walker. I am not sure but perhaps this is the reason he was walking at around 10 months. He loves this toy and I would say it is one of his favourite ones.
The Fisher Price Walk and Ride Lion cost me around £20 when it was on offer at Amazon a good while back now. I know this lion retails for a lot more in Argos and such places but it is worth looking around for a good special offer as they do seem to come up quite often. At the moment it is selling on Amazon for £28.
Basically the lion is a large plastic toy which has a couple of different tunes played either when his nose is pushed in or when the lion is moved forward. These tunes are not bad really although can get slightly annoying if they are continually played. I would of preferred it if there were more than two tunes on offer. The good thing however it that there is a volume control. This allows the music option to be completely off, quiet or loud and as you can probably guess ours is always set to the quite option!
The lion can be used in two different ways and these are where the child is able to sit on a small set as if they were sitting on the back of the lion and from here they can propel themselves along or the other option is where the seat is raised and clipped into place with a plastic bar underneath the seat and this gives the child a handle which is about the right size for them to hold on to when standing up and push the lion along.
Jack would first play with this toy in the push along mode and this is pretty much how he found his feet. He will still occasionally want the seat raised so he can run up and down the hallway with the lion being pushed along but mostly nowadays, he likes to sit on the thing. It has only been quite recently however that he has been able to grasp the concept of pushing himself along on the lion. He first started by going backwards a lot but now he is able to push forward for a short distance and he loves it.
Before he could push himself along we used to sit him on the seat of the lion and push him up and down the hallway and he would absolutely be thrilled at this especially if we were to push him really fast!
Overall, this Walk and Ride Lion from Fisher Price has really had its use. There are not really any other flashy features and the only other play like thing included on the toy is two movable bugs that are on the lions ears that can be pushed up and down. The toy is pretty simple and I am sure there are tons of other toys giving the same features and possibly even better ones. I would of perhaps liked to get one which has a bit of a bigger seat because Jack will soon be a little too big for it as he a big growing boy and the seat just wont accommodate that.
I would say it is a good toy but I would not have liked to have paid full price for it. My friend who has a son a little younger than Jack was able to pick up a similar sort of toy for around a tenner and her little boy loves his even more than Jack loves this lion. I think a 4 star rating is what I am awarding this toy. It was a good price for me, Jack does love it and it has certainly had its use already. The fact that it is very hard wearing and it will certainly last for my next ten children I can hardly fault. The only thing I would say it that I just wish it has a few more tunes programmed into it because after all I don't think that would have been that hard to do.
A RECOMMENDATION for this toy and I do hope this has been of some help to you.
