Galt shape sorting wheel,

I discovered my nursery department had one of these and thought I would tell you about it.

I think Galt make really good toys for children. This shape-sorting wheel has been produced for several years I think as I can remember using one at a nursery I worked in years ago.

This wheel is made wood. Two circular pieces each with 3 shapes cut into them. The two flat circular pieces are then fixed together by spokes around the edges of the circle.
The wheel itself is made of a natural coloured wood.

The 6 shapes, which fit into the holes that have been cut out, are coloured.
The shapes are a triangle a round a square a cross an L shape, a half moon, these are not flat shapes but cylindrical. They are easy for a young child /baby to hold.

This toy is suitable for a baby of 12 months upwards.
The first way baby will play with it is to roll it along the floor, this wheel shaped sorter rolls well.

As baby gets older he/she will enjoy posting the shapes into the wheel. Help baby do this at first, praise them when they get it right and baby will soon develop skills to do this.
