This was received as a gift for my daughters third birthday, she was delighted with it upon opening the present as it is beautifully colourful and perfect for any little girl! As we looked further into it (I say we I mean me and my daughter as I could not resist the perfect excuse to play!) we saw that it opened up with a lift up roof to reveal a little bedroom area with pink doors leading out to a balcony, next the side opposite the door opens out to show the living area leading to the front door, this has some lovely details for example a coat rack with a pink bag hanging up and a umbrella leaning up by the door (all non removable), next the very front of the boot opens out to show the kitchen area with little cooking pots and flower details, a lovely extra touch was as you open the front of the boot its sets off a lovely tinkly noise and lights up the purple blue bells on the front above the door, these also light up when the doorbell is pressed making a different noise. The tongue of the boot also pulls down to reveal inside the house.
On the back of the boot is a very cute blue bell swing there is a mushroom for a chimney and a big pink flower on the side for added prettiness! A wonderfully perfect home for the three fairies, elf and pet caterpillar which all come included along with a table and two chairs and a pink leaf recliner! What more could they want?! I mean I would totally live there!
Now for the negative.... Come on there has to be some nothing is perfect! The main problem and this has been the same with all my daughters happy land toys the doors do not stay on and unfortunately the tongue seems to have the same fittings and this too has come off, and although I have put them back on at least 800 times they have now finally come off and been lost ( I'm sure there is a dark corner of my house full of happy land doors!)
This all said it is a lovely toy, my daughter is now approaching her fourth birthday and she still plays with it regularly so its defenately not one of those 5 minute wonders! And this to me makes it more than worth the 35 pounds it cost.
we bought this for my daughters 1st birthday, unsure whether she would play with it as it is recommended for age 18 months and over. She has loved playing with it.
The bright colours are eye catching, but not garish, it looks perfect in a little girls bedroom. Its also good quality which I think will last years. The lights and sounds almost put me off buying it, but they are not as bad as you may imagine. the bells are a gentle sound and doesn't last very long, and the lights are not too bright. They aren't enough to give you a headache like other lights and sounds toys.
It comes with quite a few figures; 3 fairies, 1 gnome and a caterpillar. My daughter loves putting them around the table to eat their dinner. There is plenty in this one play set for your child to have hours of fun playing. There is loads of little parts for the fairies to explore and play with, the swing and the slide are good fun to play with.
The only downside is the handle and the door fall off quite often, though they are easy to fix back on and the toy works perfectly well without them on.
Overall a great starting set with plenty to do.
My children have alot of Happyland products. the provide hours of fun messing around with the different characters. The boot is one of the pretty ones aimed at little girls. My daughter loved it for it 'princess' look and all the fairy creatures that it comes with. The accessories are great and of good quality, they even withstand being launched across the room by an angry toddler. The boot however I dont think is great value for money at all. The hinges that hold the boot together and hold the toes on are constantly coming apart, its not broken as such, its just alot looser than it should be. Maybe its a saftey feature? Who knows. All I know is thats is very annoying.
We bought this toy for my daughter as she already had a few happyland sets and we wanted to extend the collection. When we bought this we paid £25 from the Early Learning Centre, it came with four characters and some furniture for the inside of the boot.
The boot itself opens on the top, the side and the toe giving a good run of the inside of the boot. There is a swing on the back that can fit one character in and the door on the bottom opens. The boot feels slightly flimsy in some places and it wasn't long before the door on the side of the boot was coming loose and eventually fell off. The toe of the boot also came loose with time and my wife and i were constantly having to refit these parts. The furniture was solid though, with no moving parts so this lasted longer than the boot.
My daughter was 1year 10 months when we bought this for her so maybe a little young but she had hours of fun with it. We have had it for about a year now and though my daughter is spending less time with it now, she still plays and has fun putting the characters in the swing. I would say this is a good buy for children, though not as well made as i would expect for the price.
