Advantages: Lots of activities, soft and baby friendly
Disadvantages: None
My daughter was bought this for her first Chrostmas her being 3 months at the time it was pretty limiterd what was suitable. The elephant was given a s a gift but I have looked it up for the purposes of this review and you can buy the elephant on Amazon for £8.79 at present which is a decent price for the toy in my opinion.
Packaging
The elephant came in a bright red cardboard box with a plastic front with a hole in it, the hole I think was so you could put your finger in and spin the ball on the end of the elephants nose however the hole was pretty small and the edges a little too sharp for my liking so I certainly didn't rate the packaging. The elephant wasn't difficult to get out of his box simply being hels in by plastic covered wires which simply needed untwisting.
The Elephant
The elephant is for babies aged from 3 months so it is a very soft toy to make it suitable, the elephant is a lilac blue colour and has a big trunk with a ball on the end and a bottom lip hanging underneath the trunk which looks a little strasnge as it stands out a little far. The elephant has two large plastic eyes aqnd large floppy ears and he has alsorts of different activities for baby to play with. I think the elehphant could have been more brightly coloured to attract babies attention.
The Activities
There are a number of activities on the elephant you have little tufts of ribbon sticking out of his head for baby to tug, his bright lime green ears have a rustling material inside and there is a ball of pink and orange which can be spun on the end of the elehpnats trunk. One of the elephants hands has a squeak in it although it is pretty hard to press so our daughter didn';t really manage to do this on her own and gthen the other hand has a piece of cord style material on it for texture. On one foot the elephant has a plastic dial with little holes for baby to put fingers in it and tunr the wheel, it reminds me of the dial on a really old style telephone, the wheel makes clicking noises as it turns around too. On the opposite foot there is a mirror which our daughter was really intrigue by and she would happily smile at herself in it if we held it at the right eye level for her. Thwe final activity on the elephant is a hard plastic star shape which is attached by a piece of ribbon and can be placed in a pocket on the front of the elephant, the star shape is really good for baby to chew on when their gums are hurting them and the ribbon is only short so that they cannot hurt themselves in any way.
Our Thoughts
Our daughter really liked this toy and she loved to crinkle the ears and would happily sit and giggle so she must have liked the noise it made, she loved looking in the mirror and she still loves looking at herself in mirrors now perhaps she's going to be a little vain. She never showed any interest in ths spinning ball or the squeak even when we squeaked it for her and wasn't bother by spinning the wheel either. I would say this is a great beginner toy as it is suitable for really young children and they can manage to do things on it by themselves even if it is by accident, my daughter got a couple of months play from this but once we introduced toys that made music and flashed lights she was no longer interested in this toy so there are toys that provide longer play but I still think this is great.
Summary: A great basic toy
