Ikea Mula Stacking Rings
Advantages: simple and fun
The Ikea children's stacking rings was one of the first toys we bought from Ikea for our eldest son when he was a year old. We have bought many things from Ikea before and have always been happy with the quality so when we say this lovely looking toy we couldn't help ourselves. It seems to be a problem for us at Ikea, always giving in and buying things.
This stacking toy is made from wood and is of good quality. The wood it is made from is solid beech. I have found a couple of ours do have the odd chip on some of the rings after lots of use but that was to be expected when you only pay six pounds for something. The pole you stack the wooden rings onto is made from rubber and has a slight bend to it. I guess this is for the safety of your child. I will say neither of my son's have hurt themselves with this toy and they love it to bits.
The size of this toy is perfect. It is 22cm tall and the base is 13cm across. Each ring is 2cm in depth so they are easy enough for your little one to hold in their hands.
This toy comes with seven wooden rings and a plain cylinder shape for the top to make it look like a lighthouse, well I think so anyway. The colour rings you get are red, purple, green, yellow, orange and two blue ones.
This toy has an age range of 12 months plus. I would recommend you don't get this for any child younger than this as it is wooden and it's not the best thing for your child to be putting in their mouth!
I have found the different colour rings useful with helping my son learn colours. And of course the main use of this toy is to help your young child improve their motor skills when placing the rings onto the pole. It has taken my son some time to get this right and he is now mastering getting them in order.
Not only do my sons like giving the stacking ago and playing with it I am also very happy to have it sat on my window sill. It looks nice sat on a shelf. I have to say it looks a lot better than the plastic stacking rings you can get. I think most parents would be happy to receive it as a present for their child.
So if you take a trip to Ikea I would highly recommend you buy one of these lovely simple toys.
