In The Night Garden Talking Iggle Piggle
Advantages: If they love the show they will love this
Disadvantages: doesnt wash vey well
The talking Iggle Piggle is a character from a well known children's television programme, which is shown on Cbeebies, the aged range for this product is designed for ages 12 months and above
** The Product **
The talking Iggle Piggle is around 12 inches in height and is mainly light blue and dark blue in colour, all apart from his hair, the balls of his feet and his blanket which are red. He is made from a fluffy fabric and his stuffing is made from polyester fibres
The toy resembles the shape of a person except his face which has been characterised and also his blue nose! The stance of the toy is in standing position, but the Iggle Piggle won't stand up because the balls of his feet are rounded.
In his left hand is his blanket (which he always carries around during the show), this is thatched via a Velcro square which means it can be removed from the product - handy when you want to wash it.
He is however by a battery pack which is located on the back of the toy, this is inside the Iggle Piggle and can be accessed by a Velcro strip which seals it in. The actual battery pack is sown in to the product so the batteries can be changed but the pack is fastened in, this means that you can only surface wash the product, it is not suitable for the washing machine or tumble dry.
** Functions **
When the Iggle Piggle belly is pressed, this activates the sound the toy make, they are random and not in any particular order so you have no idea what sound its going to make.
There are 5 sounds in total and these are all sounds that he make during the programme, they are quite difficult to explain, one of the sounds is like a jungle which he makes when waving to the other characters during the programme.
Another one of the sounds is his famous song (each character has their own song) when this is played, the Iggle Piggle will sing "Yes- My name is Iggle Piggle, Iggle Piggle Niggle wiggle woo! Yes my name is Iggle Piggle, Iggle Piggle Niggle wiggle woo!" When he sings this is in the voice of the character in the programme.
** Thoughts **
My daughter loves this purely because its Iggle Piggle from the television, which she loves, I don't think she would be half as interested if it was another plush of a non TV character. However, she seems to get hours of enjoyment out of him and rarely lets him go.
With al the carrying around she does with his, he can get quite mucky, as he cannot be machine washed you have to hand wash him and because he is made my material, bigger stains are hard to get out, getting him wet also means his 'Fur' gets a bit bobble, so both these together means he is starting to look a little wore (and she has only had him about 8months)
The detachable blanket is a good idea for older children, but I removed it straight away when my daughter was younger because she could easily have crammed it in her mouth as its not particularly big, also with it only being attached with Velcro it kept coming off anyway so can easily get lost.
** Summary **
In my opinion its not worth £16.97 (bought from Tesco), I think the negatives outweigh the positives, however if you asked my daughter she would say it's the best thing ever, so in that respect, if it makes your child happy then buy it by all means!
Summary: Good if your child loves the show, if not, waste of money.
