Highly recommended present for 1 year old

My son received this as a present for his first birthday and I can honestly
say that this was one of the best toys he ever had as a toddler. He carried
it everywhere with him and spent hours playing with it. This is a chunky
plastic tractor with a trailer of animals. Each animal fits in a particular
shape hole in the trailer and when you press each one down, it makes the
animal sound. It comes with a removable farmer to drive it and when you
press him in his seat it plays a tune. You can also activate the horn and
lights and set the tractor off moving a short distance. It goes at just the
right speed for a crawling baby to follow it. The animals provided some fun, but it was the movement and music of the tractor which my son found fascinating. The toy is well made and has
withstood hours of play without anything breaking on it. This is a really
well designed toy which is just right for a one year old. Having said that,
I think it would appeal more to boys than to girls.

A whole lot of toy for your money!

My son recently turned one and at his first birthday party he received the Fun Time Tractor with Trailer.

This toy is currently available from Smyths Toy Store at £10.99. Smyths have a number of national outlets and are also available online at www.smythstoys.com. I have been unable to locate this particular toy elsewhere, however do have a look in your local toy stores.

At the front of the tractor is an orange spout which when pressed causes the tractor to set off along the floor. The tractor emits an engine sound as it travels along. Once it has travelled around two metres or so it will then sound a bleeping noise similar to that of a reverse siren, the engine sound will power down and the tractor will then stop. If the spout is pressed again when the tractor is in motion the tractor will again stop. The wheels of both the tractor and the trailer have a textured rubber band around them which aids grip as they move along the floor.

Toward the back of the tractor is a seat with an orange button adjacent to it. This button causes the tractor to emit a horn which sounds three times, each time illuminating the lights at the front of the tractor. In the seat is a figure of a farmer. This figure can be removed and when pushed down into his seat 'Old MacDonald' is sounded.

Sitting in the trailer are five farm animals, a pig, a horse, a chicken, a sheep and a cow. Each animal can be removed just like the farmer and when each one is pressed down into the trailer it will make the sound of that particular animal. The animals will only fit into their particular positions and so it acts in a similar way to a shape sorter too.

This product takes two AA batteries which are included.

The movement of this toy makes it ideal to encourage crawling in younger babies, although by the manufacturer's recommended age of 12 months most babies will already be efficient crawlers. The individual animals and their sounds are a great way of teaching young children about farm animals and the sounds that they each make.

The farmer itself is a very similar shape and design to those available in the Fisherprice Little People Range and I have noticed that the farmer will fit into one of the Fisherprice toys and vice versa.

The Fun Time Tractor with Trailer is relatively easy to clean. The figures can be washed in a bowl of warm soapy water and the tractor and trailer can be wiped down with a damp cloth. So far it has withstood very rough play with no damage whatsoever and so it scores high in terms of durability also.

In my opinion this product could be priced much higher and with so many features it is quite simply a bargain at £10.99.

My son fell in love with this toy from the very first moment it was shown to him. He loves to chase it along the floor, to remove and replace the figures inside it and is very drawn to the sounds and lights. He can very easily activate the tractor to move along the floor and press the figures to activate the sounds. My little boy received a lot of gifts for his first birthday but this one is certainly a clear favourite!

The Funtime Tractor features 5 animal friends that stand in the trailer and make animal sounds when placed in their appropriate spots. Press the funnel to hear realistic engine sounds and then the tractor rolls along for 10 seconds! Push the driver to hear a fun melody, and you can also push the steering wheel to hear a horn sound. This small toy for kids is not only fun, but it is also a learning tool for them to teach themselves about different shapes and sounds.
