Lamaze My Friend Emily
Advantages: Bright, colourful, rattles
Disadvantages: Squeak hard to locate
I have already accumulated a couple of Lamaze toys and books for my baby daughter, some of which she likes better than others. However, of those that I had none were particularly girly, and so when I saw that Lamaze had a few dolls in the their collection, I knew I wanted one for my daughter. With my daughter being two and a half months old now, and looking at her toys much more, I was hoping that a doll with bright colours as well as rattle, would be something she could enjoy for a long time.
Lamaze My Friend Emily currently retails on amazon for just under £8 but I do think it is worth every penny. When it arrived, and I took this doll out of the box, my daughter immediately began to study it, and a smile came across her face very quickly, and so I was delighted to have picked something that would obviously be something that would catch her attention.
Like most of the toys in the Lamaze range, this doll is aimed at various stages of development and thus is a longer term toy that should still entice her as she grows. In fact it is part of the 'play and grow' range of Lamaze. Emily comes with a hook that can be linked to a playmat for example. Unfortunately I cannot hook it onto my carry cot which I think my daughter would love.
Emily comes with a bright face with big eyes that my daughter likes to look at and you can very often find her smiling at Emily. She has various textured clothing on including a crinkly edges, brightly coloured dress, soft knitted tights and shoes, and a cotton hat. Around her neck is a flower shaped rattle with coloured balls inside, so as you move Emily she automatically rattles. Attached to one of her hands, she has two rings that jangle together as your move her as well. My daughter can just about grab the rings of Emily and seems to enjoy this. Emily also comes with a little squeak however I struggled to initially find where it was, however I realised that you have to press her tummy but just under the rattle to make a squeak, and a child would have to push Emily's tummy in quite far to get that squeak.
Despite my daughter being only two and a half months old this doll is her favourite toy by far. It is the one that is sure to elicit a smile and she will study and study Emily's face, as well as listen to the rattle as Emily moves. I now find myself taking Emily with me on every outing, and I know that will all the different features it should be a favourite for many more months to come.
Summary: A great doll from Lamaze
