The popularity of lazy town has increased so much so when my daughter asked for a Stephanie dress up outfit, i thought it would be a good buy.
The outfit itself cost me £20 and you do get alot for it. You get the Stephanie dress, a pink wig, legs warmers, bangles and a bag, so for £20 that is quite good.
The dress is quite good, however, it came in size 3-5 and at the time my daughter had just turned 4 so it was a bit short on her but it worked. However, after a while, the dress started to come apart, so was obviously made from cheap material. It didn't last that long and i had to try sewing it up so she could still wear it as it was her favourite outfit at that time. The leg warmers were of good quality as were the bangles and the bag. Out of all the outfit, the bag is the only part he still has and was very popular. She always crammed it full of her things. The wig, after a while of wearing became a complete mess and didn't look anything like it did on the picture on the box. My daughter looked very good while dressed up inthe complete outfit, and was a big hit with her.
However, as the buyer, i don't think it is worth the £20 i paid for it and was not of good quality.
My kid are mad about Lazytown and I have to say that I encourage it as I am keen for them to eat as much Sports Candy as they can.
Since Lazytown Extra has started (where they go out and about to see children taking part in physical activities) my 2 older ones, aged 5 & 4, have been asking for the costumes. So I finally gave in when Woolworths was closing down and I managed to pick this Stephanie outfit up for £10.
I am glad now that I didnt pay the full price as i dont think my 4 year old will get much wear out of the 3 - 5 year old set. She is not very tall for her age and is so skinny I have to sew extra elastic into trousers but the dress is quite tight round the tummy and it is well above the knee. The material also snags easily and catches on the velcro. The legwarmers are good quality but the tights were to fiddily so my daughter wears hers with light pink leggings. The bangles are perfect and PINK which always goes down well. The wig is really small made and never fitted properly but looks hilarious on my 17 month old (it does get matted really easily).
The biggest hit of this outfit is the bag - that goes everywhere with us - which is good quality and holds a fair amount.
Although the quality is poor I am really glad that I bought this as it made my little girl very happy.
My daughter was bought the Stephanie LazyTown dress up set for Christmas last year. At first, I thought the price of this dress up outfit was really expensive, but when you see what is included, it made me change my mind.
The set includes, a pale pink pair of tights, a pair of legwarmers, a dress, a bright pink wig, a headband, little plastic bracelets, and a bag. So, to be fair, value for money is not too bad at all.
My daughter put it on as soon as she saw it, and we couldnt it off her. The quality of the items are great, although the wig needs to be looked after carefully to kepp it in good condition, as my daughter put this in her dressing up box, then rummaged around a bit, and when she pulled it out a few weeks later, it was a big pink tangled mess! The rest of the costume though, i still in very good condition.
Recently I bought my friends grandchildren a Lazy Town costume each from the charity shop, the Sportacus one was terrible quality and has rarely been worn since I gave it to her grandson. On the other hand, this Stephanie costume is fantastic and his 3 year old sister has hardly taken it off in the couple of weeks she's owned it.
The set usually retails from between £15 on Ebay for a brand new costume up to £25 from heroesforkids.co.uk so it's definitely worth shopping around if you are looking to buy this for the little girl in your family.
In your Stephanie set you'll find a full outfit which will fit children aged between 3 - 5 years. My friends granddaughter is 3 and it fits her perfectly, with just one or two problems which I will tell you about over the course of the review.
The most important thing about being Stephanie is her bright pink hair, and this set contains a lovely pink wig which is well made and fits over Marnie's own bobbed hair perfectly. It is one of those fibrous wigs which comb through well so look tidy and the strands of 'hair' do not stick together to leave it looking unkepmt and messy.
The clothes themselves are a Stephanie dress, tights and a pair of legwarmers. I think these are fantastic quality and the dress in particular could easily be worn as part of a party outfit whether your child is dressing up as Stephanie or not. It is a sleeveless A-line type dress made of a satin style material and looks just like the one Stephanie wears in Lazy Town. It is soft to the touch and all the seams and fasteners are beautifully stitched so it doesn't look tacky or rushed at all.
Marnie is only just 3 so the dress hangs off her slightly, although not that much that she looks silly in her outfit but the dress is definitely too long and she was quite upset when her tactless dad pointed out that Stephanies dress is much shorter. This is a problem which could easily be solved by making different sizes in this costume as there is a huge difference in heights between a 3 year old and a 5 year old and I think it's unfair to expect the same costume to fit this rather large age gap.
The tights too are too long so my friend has to fold them under her feet before putting her pretty pink shoes on, again the people who made this costume did not put very much thought into the sizing considering a 3 year olds legs are generally much shorter and chubbier than a 5 year olds. They are very pretty tights though, a pearly pink which look absolutely lovely with the dress.
The legwarmers are a lovely dusky pink colour and are well made, they are a thin jersey type fabric and stay up on Marnies legs without sloping down to her ankles like a pair of normal legwarmers her mum decided to put on her recently.
The accessories I received with this Stephanie costume topped off the outfit perfectly. A very pretty pink shoulder bag which Marnie uses to keep her snacks and dolls clothes in, 4 sparkly pink bangles and an Alice band for her to wear in her hair/wig. These all add a little bit of interest to the costume and really make her look like Stephanie, especially when she runs around my friends living room doing her high kicks!
I think this is one of the best costumes available at the moment for any little Lazy Town fan. I think Lazy Town is brilliant anyway because it helps to encourage small children to be more active through games and dancing, I know Marnie dances much more since I bought her this costume because she wants to be just like her idol Stephanie.
