LeapFrog MyPal Violet Interactive Teddy
Advantages: Personalise with your child's name and favourite things, easy to use, very soft and cuddly
Disadvantages: Absolutely nothing I can think of!
This toy is absolutely fantastic and very entertaining! I decided to buy this toy for my daughter last christmas. I had some clubcard vouchers to spend at Tesco and couldn't make up my mind what to get her until I came across this toy. At the time it's RRP was £29.99 but it was on offer for £19.99 - I see that the price has come down even more now on Amazon and I personally think it is worth every penny.
MyPal Violet is a little purple dog about 30cm from head to toe. She is made of very soft, cuddly material and has a little collar round her neck with her name printed on it - this also lights up when she is talking or interesting. She has a different button on the end of each paw 1. on/off button, 2. bedtime music, 3. songs and 4. playtime.
Now for the interesting bit that persuaded me to buy this toy - Violet comes supplied with a USB cable for your PC. By plugging her into your PC you are able to personalised Violet with your child's name and favourite animal, colour and food, and you can also choose a number of different songs that you would like violet to play. Before you can do this you need to upload the Leapfrog Connect programme onto your PC - I found this very easy to do (I am definitely not a whizz with computers but know the basics) and the programme can be found easily on the leapfrog website (and I think it also takes you directly there when you plug Violet in for the first time but can't remember for certain as it was a few months ago since I did it). Anyway, once the programme is uploaded onto your computer you then need to put a few basic details in about yourself and your child (you can add more than 1 child onto the programme if you wish) and then register Violet to your child. Next step is to put your child's name into Violet - I was a little worried about this as my daughter has a fairly unusual name so didn't think it would be available but I managed to find it very quickly and it also allows you to alter the spelling of the name (as Violet sings a song where she spells out your child's name). I also bought this toy for my nephew - who again has a fairly unusual name but again found it listed straight away! I then programmed all of my daughter's favourite things and the result was that Violet sang a song about a pink monkey that likes to eat blueberries :o)
The first time my daughter played with this toy she was absolutely delighted as the first thing Violet said was "ruff ruff, Hi Lylah!" and then proceeded to sing a song about her when her left paw was pressed. My daughter has owned this toy for 6 months now and never seems to tire of it, favouring it over a lot of her other toys and taking it everywhere with her. Violet is suitable for children from 6 months old and is very easy to use, and at 22 months old my daughter is still not too old to thoroughly enjoy playing with it. If the toy was bought for a 6 month old it would have years of play in it so therefore excellent value for money.
I can't think of one single bad thing to say about this toy. My daughter loves it so much and so do I. I'm so glad that I bought this toy for her and would highly recommend it.
Ps MyPal Violet is also available in green and is called MyPal Scout.
