The Leapfrog Electronic book, Tad's Counting Farm is currently retailing for around £5.99 which is great value for money.

This electronic book was purchased for my son 3 years ago and it has now been passed down to my 11 month old daughter. He takes great pride in showing her how it works and what each of the buttons do.

The book has two volume levels; however there is really no need to have it on the high volume setting as this could be heard through-out even the largest house! It has 5 solid plastic pages with tabs on them to help little ones turn the pages themselves.

Each page of the book corresponds to an animal and number, the rhyme is written on the pages but a ladies voice also reads it out to you.

Working through the book page by page you (or your child) turns the cube to the requested animal and places it into the hole, pressing it down to make the animal sound. The book then registers the answer and tells you if it's correct.

This is an educational book which deals with the numbers 1-5, animals and rhymes along with the expected reading.

There is a button which you can press and it will read the text on that page again, however my daughters particular favourite is the Tad button which plays the Old Macdonald has a Farm song but substitutes 'Old Macdonald' for 'Farmer Tad'. She takes great delight in pressing that button over and over and over... well you get the idea!

Other than the obvious irritation that could be caused by repetative songs and story the only other negative would be that when it was new the pages were quite stiff and sometimes more than one page turned at a time, with more use this issue seems to have resolved itself.
