Advantages: Simple outdoor toy

Disadvantages: Child has to be able to rock it themselves

When I asked my friend who has two children aged 5 and 2 for a recommendation for an outdoor toy for my 1 year olds birthday she suggested this as she's had it at the same age for her eldest and even now she will still have the odd ride on it.

With this in mind off I went to ToyRus to have a look. They came in all range of colours and were very light. They also had them in Argos but cheaper. In the end I picked one up at a car boot sale for a couple of quid. At full price they range from £18 - £25. They say it's suitable from 12 - 36 months.

Hurrah - even though we bought it second hand this toy comes fully assembled. It's made of plastic so it can live outside without fear of it getting ruined.

My little boy couldn't walk when he first sat on it but he was quite stable on the low seat with high back. I stayed close by to make sure he didn't slide off. He needed my help to rock it backward as and forward and he could hold onto the handles at the front. It lovely now to see him try and rock it himself and I'm sure once he can do that he'll get more use out of it. He still needs my help to get on it but he's quite safe on it and it's not far to fall!

A good basic outdoor toy which they can play with at their own level and will allow for imaginative play once they are older.
