When our first child was only a few months old my sister in law gave us all the toys from her garden. She had been working as a child minder but was giving it up and so wanted to clear some clutter. There were loads of things from the Little Tikes range and one of them was this Little Tikes Rocking Horse.

The horse we have is blue in colour and has a horse's head on one end and a tail on the other. There is a small handle each side of the horses head but the rest of the Rocking horse is one piece. It is made of hard plastic as are most of the Little Tikes toys. The middle part is lowered to make a seat area so the child has a back rest behind them and the horses head in front of their chest.

Our daughter was only about 6 months old when we first put her onto the rocking horse. She was sitting independently by then but couldn't balance very well. We would hold her on and rock her back and forth and she used to enjoy it very much. As she got older and learned how to stay balanced and rock the horse herself this became a favourite garden toy. The rocking horse it quite sturdy and doesn't tip over very easily. We have it on a bark play area and it rarely tips and then only if the children are being rough and playing boisterous games with it.

We have had the rocking horse for five years now and it is still being used regularly. I have three children who have all enjoyed playing on the horse and playing cowboys with it. Unfortunately one side of the handle has now broken off so we have removed the whole thing. He is also looking a bit faded too but I don't think he has done too bad really as I don't know how long my sister in law had him before us. My children don't seem bothered that there is no handle now and just hold onto horses head instead.

You can still buy the Little Tikes rocking horse from www.amazon.co.uk from about £17.99 but I'm sure I have seen it in Toys R Us recently too.

I would recommend this to anyone with young children as ours have had years of enjoyment out of ours. I really can't fault this lovely toy.
