Advantages: Great pictures, bright colours, chunky pieces, bargain price !
Disadvantages: None
Harry loves anything to do with Bob the Builder at the moment, we seem to have his DVDs on a loop (which is starting to annoy me slightly lol!). When we went to stay with my parents in April, my mum spotted this little box of Bob the Builder puzzles for a bargain price in Marks and Spencer and decided to treat Harry to them. They've since become a huge hit with Harry and often are out on the floor!
Bob the Builder is a children's television character who has been around on British television since 1997. He is famously voiced by Neil Morrisey, with other guest voices as well. He works in construction along with his friend Wendy, and many other moving and talking machine vehicles. He's a hit with kids all over the world, and has many toys, books and DVDs to his name!
These puzzles come in a neat little box as you can see in the product picture. It's blue with the Bob the Builder logo, and pictures of Bob, and some of the puzzles inside the box. It also features a double-lidded top, so it is nice and securely fastened when its not being used, and also has a carry handle on the top so your toddler can proudly carry around his box. The box contains 12 puzzle pieces, which make up 6 seperate puzzles featuring 6 separate characters. What I really like about these puzzles is that they come in 3 different shapes. 2 puzzles come as triangles, 2 as hexagons and 2 as circles.
The puzzles are made of strong cardboard, which is made from 80% recycled paper, so they're good for the environment as well! They are nice chunky pieces that slot into each nicely, and nice and easy for toddlers to do as well. The 2 triangular shapes are the characters of Bob and Wendy. They are split directly through the middle horizontally, so they have a small top piece with a wider bottom piece. The hexagonal shapes are the machines Muck and Scoop. They are yellow and bright green, and are split diagonally down the middle of the shape. The final two shapes are circular and feature Dizzy and Roley, and the colours of these pieces are blue and red.
The pieces are in nice bright colours as I mentioned, and the characters are in nice bright colours which contrast nicely against the background of the puzzle pieces. The names of each of the characters featured are in bold red type across the top or bottom of each piece, so this is good for those who are just learning to read. The bright colours of the pieces are useful for teaching younger toddlers their colours, as well as the colours of the machines as well.
The puzzles are aimed at children aged between 1 and 3 years old, and as I mentioned are made from 80% recycled materials. The box they come in is also made of recycled materials. The box contains 12 pieces, which form 6 robust and sturdy puzzles. The puzzles help children with their hand-eye co-ordination and problem solving, as well as helping with colours and reading skills too. The puzzle is available exclusively from Marks and Spencer forthe fantastic price of £3.50. Also available in this range are Fireman Sam, In The Night Garden and Thomas the Tank Engine puzzles. Available from the Marks and Spencer website, www.marksandspencer.com or in-store where available.
I think these are fantastic puzzles for toddlers, especially as they feature very likeable characters most children will easily recognise. They are well made puzzles, which will survive pretty heavy handed toddler-play, and are lovely and bright colours too which help children learn their colours. They are a bargain price and I'd thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a great present for their Bob fan!
Thank you for reading.
