Buying Birthday/Christmas presents for a little girl is something of a revelation to me. Ive been so used to buying for my son, I have now discovered that there is a world of dolls, prams, kitchens and dress ups. On top of that, because my son has so many toys already that they both love to play with and share, its hard to find something original that I know my daughter would like and hasn't used or had before. I bought this item from Amazon around 3 months ago for just short of £6.00.
Why did I buy it?
I bought this because when I was searching online it really caught my eye. The design and look of it was eye catching, quite girlie and what it actually is and does my little girl doesn't have anything like this. The price I thought was fantastic, and the Mega bloks items Ive had before have been of very good quality.
What is it?
This is a ride on toy with built in storage space. Its on caster wheels, so it doesn't just go in straight lines but literally has the ' turning around ' action going on.
Length is 17 inches, width is 10 inches and height ( from the middle of the seat ) is 9 inches.
Suitable for ages from 12 months to 3 years.
How is it packaged?
It came in a medium sized open box. All around the box are clear pictures of the toy itself, some with a child sitting on it so it gives you a good idea of proportions. It also shows that there is another version of this ( colouring and design more suitable for a boy if your going down the typical route ). On the packaging it explains the age its suitable for, what it does and on the bottom some general warnings in regards to use e.g suitable up to a specific weight, parents supervision required etc.
How does it look?
This ride on is mainly a dark bubble gum pink ( the body section ) and the seat is lime green. On the front is a cute girlie ' face ' ( eyes eyelashes, mouth and some form of antennae ). This is in the form of a sticker. On the side are large black spots ( again stuck on ). The actually shape of the body is similar to a semi circle with what appears to be wheels under arches on both sides. These aren't actual wheels as the real wheels are underneath the ride on itself ( set of 4 wheels on casters ).
On the back is a hole roughly 4 inches in diameter ( its not circular in shape ) which when you look through it shows a decent amount of space for storage directly in the body of the ride on.
The seat is slightly raised at one end creating a sort of curve pointing upwards. This is somewhere for the child to hold onto when in motion or simply just sitting in it.
What do we think?
This has been a major hit with my little girl. Firstly, I think she finds the colour and design striking and fun. Very eye catching. From my view point I would agree, and love the fact that despite it being a ladybird/bug in design, it isn't in colour which is different.
I was very surprised how quickly she learnt how to use it. The hardest thing she found was how to get it out of the box! Once I helped her in that area she sat on it and off she went, never to be seen again! ( or at least for afew minutes ). Perfect height and size for her to get on and off it. Comfortable in shape so she could sit on it as long as she wanted and be reasonably relaxed, and the fact you could hold onto the seat gave her peace of mind she had something to hold onto, but also a sense of control. I didn't need to tell her what to do, she sat on it, pushed off with her legs and was off. Didn't take much effort on her part, and when she discovered that she could actually turn this ride on toy completely around in circleswhile on it , she was on cloud 9!
When she discovered that there was a hole in the back of the ladybug, it didn't stretch her imagination one bit, and threw in as many toys she could find in it. Handy for her, hand for me.
On a practical Mummy level, my opinion- size wise its not too bulky. Big enough to do the job, small enough to shove in a corner or cupboard so I cant see it being much of an obstacle.
It feels and looks very durable, so good quality and well built.
It came in one piece so for me less hassle putting it together, and it also means I don't have to worry about things ' falling off'. The stickers for the face and spots were actually already on it. Sometimes one of my gripes is toys I have to put the stickers on because normally beforehand you've spent such along time assembling it, telling the kids off for standing on pieces, hitting each other with them, the last thing you want to do is stick on stupid stickers! ( you can tell Ive been doing this recently-moan over, sorry! ).
Perfect toy for my little girl as shes smack bang in the middle of the recommended age. My son has tried to get on it and got around on it ok, but hes too big so I cant see there being too many arguments over it.
It's a good way for my little one to have a bit of indoor exercise ( cant see why this cant be used outside, but I didn't buy it for that purpose ).
Easy to clean.
Would I buy this again? In a heartbeat. Im more than pleased I got it for the price I did as on Amazon at the moment its over £15.00! Fantastic price, great quality ride on toy, perfect for my child at her age and easy to use, easy to store and you don't need too much room for them to be wheeling around the place! The main thing is she loves it!
