“ Brand: Mega Bloks / Age: 12 months „
My daughter has a very large container full of mega blocks, including this set.
This particular set comes in a handy little carry case and contains 60 pieces including Ariel, the little mermaid and Cinderella. It also contains a block in the shape of a magic mirror, (from Sleeping Beauty) a block with Cinderella's slipper on and a block with a rose on the top (from Beauty and the Beast)
I am a very big fan of mega blocks, I have purchased many sets for my daughter, this is one of the great advantages of this set, you can keep adding to them as there are so many compatible sets available.
The blocks can be submerged in soapy water, therefore easy to clean and they are also very strong and durable, my daughter has been collecting sets for 3 years now and none have ever been damaged in the slightest.
These blocks are easily fixed together and I believe they are great for all round development. Children can be imaginative by acting out little stories with the characters, they can problem solve by discovering which way blocks fix together and for smaller children fixing the blocks together and taking them apart, helps to develop their hand eye co-ordination and the bright coloured blocks can even help with colour recognition.
My daughter was purchased this set for Christmas last year. She had been given a £15 gift card for Toys R Us, but being 2 years of age, she obviously wouldnt understand this nor probably appreciate it so we went to Toys R Us prior to Christmas and purchased this set for her instead at a cost of £14.99.
The packaging is a large pink see through bag. The zip is easy to open and close and there is a carry handle to the top making transporting the blocks around very easy. This bag also makes clearing the blocks away easy as you can just throw them into the bag in any which way ready for another days play. My daughter would often carry other toys in here also such as her dolls and it also became useful for taking her toys to Nanas at the weekend, so the packaging is actually very good.
Inside the bag you get a selection of blocks. These vary in size and come in a range of colours including pink, yellow and pale blue. In addition you also recieve several princess figures such as Sleeping Beauty and Ariel and you also get some items of furnishings from the shows. The thing that does confuse me is that you get the rose in the case from Beauty and the Beast but yet Belle isnt one of the princesses you get with this set so I am unsure as to why this is included. You also get a small mirror and sleeping beautys shoe on a pillow which you can attach to the megablocks.
The blocks themselves are easy to join together and my daughter very much enjoys building all kinds of things using these blocks. They are a great tool to improve hand to eye coordination and we also used them to help teach my daughter colours. As mentioned previous they come in a selection of sizes so this allows you to really use your imagination and build anything you can dream of. We have combined several sets together and made a giant castle before now which my children thoroughly enjoyed.
The blocks themselves are made of plastic and contain no small parts. They are easy to wipe clean and to store making them a fantastic toy.
Overall these blocks are fantastic and very reasonably priced. You can obtain them in a wide range of sets including Winnie the Pooh, Cars, Mickey Mouse etc so there is something to suit everyone. Highly recommended.
My youngest daughter received this for her first birthday last year. It comes in a large pink see through bag which has a carry handle on the top of it. At the moment this set retails at £16.63 in Amazon. This set is suitable for the age of 12 months and upwards.
Inside the bag you get a large selection of Bloks in blue, yellow, pink, purple and even some sparkly ones. All of these come in various sizes. You also get a couple of princess figures, a mirror, a shoe and a rose displayed on top of a Blok, all of these bits also attach to the other plain Bloks.
My daughter already had a set of bricks for little ones but this was a different brand so it was that bit newer for her. On opening the bag I realised why they are so popular for this age group. The Bloks are a lot chunkier and easy to put together than the other set which she already had which is great for little hands. We really enjoyed building up in different ways which she just had to pull apart afterwards. The extra princess figures seem to be stiff when you try and take them apart so she still can't manage to do that by herself but this may just be our set and after a bit more use I am sure it will get easier.
This set is good value for money and has had daily use by my 17 month old and also by my 6 year old! This set looks like it will last for many years yet.
