“ Manufacturer: Mega Bloks / Age: 12 months+ „
The Mega Bloks Tiny n Tuff Rcae n Go Rig looks just like a car transporter and acts like one too. My son received this for his first birthday and I think that was a perfect age because he had just started to push cars around and this truck is perfect for pushing and bashing because its so big and can withstand a lot of heavy play. It's got big thick tyres, just like a big transporter would, four at the back and two at the front and these goes around very well so it makes it very easy for the truck to be pushed. Despite its size this truck is actually very light so its easy to give it a big push and watch it go the length of our kitchen.
There is also a handy handle at the top of the truck which you can have up or down so you can also carry the truck around which I find quite useful when I need to pack it away or move it around for my son. My son also finds it quite easy to carry this truck around by the handle and this is what he often does when he's not pushing it.
What I like about the truck is that it looks quite industrial and hard working and like a real truck should look. I think here is a good time to point out that the truck actually has a big smiley face at the front, there are two eyes in the window of the truck and then a smiling mouth on the grill but apart from that the look is very industrial, ha ha!
The back of the truck is made up of some ramps which are fun as you can then drive the cars that come with this truck up and down the ramp and they do zoom off quite fast, much to the amusement of my little boy. The ramps are silver/grey just like on a real truck and have lots of cut out chevrons on them which makes it look really authentic in my opinion. The back door/flap of the truck opens out flat towards the floor and then the ramp on top also opens up. This allows you access to the storage section underneath where you can store all the cars that come with this truck and more. According to the information, this rig can store more than 12 Tiny n Tuff vehicles but ours usually has some Happyland figures in it, usually a biscuit, some cars, etc, etc. This is actually the first place we look when we have lost something as usually my son will have take it and hidden it in his favourite truck.
The truck also came with three cool cars, we love cars in our house so the more the merrier. They each have two sections to them and underneath is like a big bit of lego/mega bloks that they stick to so you can take the cars apart and make different colour combinations with them which is fun. The cars are really easy to put together and take apart and my one year old son can do it no problem. I find buys love taking things apart so I think this was a really good design idea from Mega Bloks.
All in all a really fun truck that I can see him playing with for many more months to come.
Why this toy
My son got this toy for his first birthday and it is a one of his favourite toys and is played with most days so I though I would share how great it is with you.
What is it?
This is a toy that is made by the Mega Bloks Company. The "Race 'n Go Rig" is made from sturdy plastic. The lorry element has a practical handle for your little one to carry the lorry and the cars anywhere they go. The top of the lorry lifts up so you child can put the cars in and out either via the top or the ramp way that comes down at the back. The cars can store easily away on an evening inside the car and there is room for plenty more cars inside too.
It comes with 3 racing style cars which are made up of the wheelbase, front section and back section. The cars come apart to reveal the wheel base with two raised bits for you or your child to then put two of the car blocks on the top to produce a colorful racing car. The different bits are all nice and chunky, so when they do get pulled apart they don't tend to get lost under the sofa or around the house. All of the bits mix and match so you can have lots of different looking car combinations. The slightly newer version than my son has now includes and extra set of car bodies which the manufacture claims can produce up to 16 unique looking car combinations.
My son has enjoyed this toy in various stages. Really at first he just enjoyed pushing the lorry and cars about and didn't really seem to understand that the cars came apart. He would spend many happy hours pushing these and the lorry around the house. As his speech started to develop there were the inevitable Brumm Brumm noises and then word car to accompany his play.
As this is such a firm favourite we have taken this away with us on holiday several times this year and the storage element for the cars has proved useful in not losing the cars on our travels.
He has also used this car as a ride on toy now I know this isn't what it is designed for but it has carried his weight beautifully and not suffered in any way, so I am really pleased with how sturdy and child proof this toy really is.
The carry handle has been used by both my son to lug it around the house and by me to carry it in and out of the car. I like the fact that the handle locks into place so it doesn't swing and bang into his little legs when not being used to carry it around.
Now that he is a bit older (21 months) he has started explore and learn about how the cars come apart to make new cars and combinations. This is great for helping him learn his fine motor skills through manipulating the blocks and it is also improving his hand-to-eye coordination. He can put them together but still struggles at times to pull them apart and this is where mummy still has to help still. I lose count of the amount of times I pull these apart each day for him.
The cars are a lovely shape and size that is perfect for little hands to hold and manipulate my son can easily carry these and turn the blocks around to try to get them to fit on to the blocks.
I try to use the cars to help learn some of his colors such as shall we put the red bit and green bit together to have a red and green car. The manufacture claim that "this product offers a variety of solid colors and basic shapes imperative to teaching your child the distinction of shapes and colors by playing" which is probably true.
I think this toy is great for helping him learn and develop his creative play aspects and think that this will only continue as he gets older through him starting to use the ramps to have the cars do tricks for example.
I have to say this is a simple toy but it has totally captured his imagination and is played with on a daily basis.
This toy can be bought from Boots currently for £20 and is part of its 3 for 2 offers on toys at the moment so you maybe able to combine this and grab yourself a bargain
I would definitely recommend this toy to other parents for their children it is well made and hasn't suffered any damage though being played with in various different ways. It encourages creative play and good fine motor skills. It is providing hours of amusement for my toddler so definitely worth its money so give it a go.
