Advantages: Bright colours, fun

Disadvantages: Crumble away, hard to wash off when dry

I find it really strange that as a child I was restricted with messy items yet my Mam thinks it's a great idea to buy my daughters lots of noisy and messy toys, needless to say she bought them this set of Bath crayons.

I have seen these crayons in character packets such as Fireman Sam but these are just plain ones from Mothercare, a pack of 6 different crayons costs £4 although my Mam bought them when they were having a sale so doubt she will have paid that.

The crayons came on a cardboard backing with a see through plastic cover over them on the front which is attached to the cardboard so it is very easy to get hem out of the packet althougb the packet then is no use for storing them in. On the packet it tells you that these crayons are for ages 3 and up and we have only let our eldest daughter play with them.

In the packet there are 5 different crayons, green, yellow, red, blue and orange. The crayons are in a plastic holder that has a little sider on the side so that once a bit of the crayon wears down you can push the next notch out. I think the plastic is used to stop the crayon disintergrating as strangely considering they are meant to be used in water they break up very easily.

Sophie thought the idea of the crayons was brilliant and couldn't wait to try them out when my Mam gave her them I have never seen her so eager to have a bath. The crayons feel like normal crayons but very strangely they draw on skin, the bath and the tiles and then wash off when you want them too. The crayons wear down very quickly though and once you get half way down them they seem to move down of their own accord and just crumble. The colours are nice and bright and even the yellow shows up really well, Sophie loves drawing rainbows on herself with them.

I can't say these are the best quality, they crumble away far too easily as if they are not meant to be in water which is very strange. I wouldn't buy these again, when we put them on the side of the bath between uses the colours ran off the crayons and once it dried it was quite hard to get it off.

Sophie loved these but they didn't last very long and are of average quality, not something we will be buying again.

Summary: A novelty
