“ Brand: Mothercare / Age: 12 months / Type: Trikes „
My daughters got given one of these each last Christmas as a present from my husband's aunty. I think there great and my daughters love it them. The bike is very sturdy, and has a little seat belt so your child can be safe when riding around. My daughters find them easy to ride because they have the two wheels at the back which stops it from tipping over and gives the bike balance and the handle bars are just the right size for them to hold onto. The little bags and basket comes in very handy as in the bags we normally put our daughters drinks and sweets when we are going on a walk and in the basket they normally put there dolls and teddies. They use there bikes often as when we go on long walks they often get tired so we find this bike is great as we just sit them on it and when they get tired of cycling then we can push them by the handle, which you can change the height of so is comfortable to push and you can help them stir with it. I think the price of the bike is good as it will entertain your child for hours.
My son was given a Mothercare gift card for his 1st Birthday recently so my husband and I had a trip to Mothercare to find something to spend them on!!
As we walked round our local store (it's a Mothercare World) there was a display/demo trike I suddenly found being run over my toes, pushed by my little boy!! So we popped him on the seat and pushed him round by the very useful parent handle, he loved it!
Right, we said let's find one of these to get him. When we found the part of the shop with bikes/trikes and ride-ons we found there was another trike suitable from 12months which is the one I will be reviewing, the one he'd had a go on in store we decided was less suitable for him.
So this review is for the Mothercare Touring trike, we purchased it in 'multi' which is green and blue colourings but as per the picture above it is also available in pink. It is currently priced at £39.99 and is stated as being suitable from 12months to 5years.
It requires a fair bit of assembly, but this took my husband about the same time as it took my son to eat his dinner, so not too long! The parts are made of tubular metal portions and strong plastic.
It has a shaped seat that can be fitted on one of 3 available positions, it is fitted by a nut and bolt so will be easy to change the postion when needed. There is also a safety belt on the seat.
It is a tricycle so has 3 wheels, the wheels are made of tough plastic with 'tread'. The front wheel has a circular pull out panel next to the wheel to switch between free wheel or pedal functions. So when your child is unable to pedal for themselves they can put their feet on the pedals, without the pedals and therefore their feet going round!! There is also a mechanism to lock the steering
There is a rear hand brake on one of the back wheels it has a large easy grip handle, great for little hands.
It has a parent handle adjustable to 2 heights and removeable when your child is capable of driving themselves round!! It has been easy to drive the trike with the parent handle, both along pavements and on grass.
There are 2 bags, one that velcro's over the front handle bar, useful for putting a little snack in for your child while out and about! There is also larger triangular rucksack style bag that can be fitted on the parent handle, it would be useful but it just drop down to the bottom of the handle which is a bit annoying.
There is also a tip down bucket at the back which is very handy for all the other essentials your child 'needs' to take out with them!!
I think this was well worth the money and I know we will get a lot of use out of it and not just for a few months either. My sone will push it round indoors and outdoors and loves to be pushed round outside, trying to make me go faster!!
A fun way for your child to help develop balance and co-ordination skills and enjoy the outdoors!
