My review is not for the cute and cuddly stuffed Yoshi Pictured above, but for the Yoshi backpack. For some reason, Dooyoo asked me to out this review in this category rather than create a separate one. I wanted to write about this little backpack because I feel it is absolutely perfect as a carry case for my son's Nintendo 3ds. I'm sure everyone knows who Yoshi is. He first appeared in 1990 in Nintedo's Super Mario World game and has been in several games and even films since. While he usually appears as a side kick to Mario and Luigi he has had a few games in his own right. Although sometimes described as a dragon, Yoshi is definitely a dinosaur. I even have a dvd of his rescue from the land of the Dinosaurs by Luigi in a lovely episode titled "Mama Luigi". At 18" tall the Yoshi backpack is quite large and looks exactly like a huge stuffed teddy except that it has straps running from the back of his head to his ..... butt. He is very well crafted likeness of Yoshi, and I must say much nicer than the stuffed toy shown above. This is a very well crafted toy. He has a lovely thick plush fur, and everything is stitched together securely. The straps are very adjustable so that fits my four old son perfectly, but could be let out enough to fit me just as easily. Being so large - I did expect this bag to be able to hold a bit more. The zip open compartment on his back is actually very small. You could fit a phone or MP3 player and a small wallet or coin purse, but that is about it. As a backpack - Yoshi really isn't very functional. You most certainly could not carry school books or picnic lunch in this. You can not fit a tablet into this, but you may be able to fit a kindle. Thankfully, we did not buy this with the intention of being able to carry very much gear inside of it. I bought this to go with my sons new Nintendo 3DS for his birthday this summer. There is just enough room to fit the 3DS safely inside the pocket. It will only fit at one angle, and nothing else of consequence can be carried at the same time. If you have very tiny games cartridge cases, you may also fit of few of these in, but sadly you can not fit a normal sized games case, and the 3DS both at the same time. As I said this is very tiny. But what makes this wonderful as a 3DS case is the padding. This is very much a large stuffed toy, and even the stomach area is well filled with stuffing. This means the 3DS is safely cushioned inside a large stuffed animal. It doesn't matter if the child drops this, falls on it, or even tosses it about, the games console inside couldn't be better protected. The result is that my sons' 3DS still looks like brand new, despite being trailed about by a 4 year old, and most importantly still works like brand new. I've noticed that children take their games consoles with them everywhere now. While I think this a grand way to pass time in Dr.'s waiting room or on long car journey, I will not allow my children to take theirs places like Sunday School, and if the did attend regular school the DS would be staying home then as well. Even so the consoles do get a fair amount of travel, and I am very happy to have such a fun way to keep it safe. After all they are very expensive. Without Dooyoo I never would have managed, but to buy a replacement would be very difficult for me. The fact that my son likes Yoshi so much makes him much more likely to put his 3DS away as well. Yoshi has a special hook on the bedroom wall and is always easy to find. The drawbacks to this backpack include the fact that older boys are less likely to want to carry about what looks like a big cuddly toy. My 7 year old does like this - but I can't see him one carrying one about. The other drawback to this is that it just barely fits a standard sized DSI or 3DS. I am certain that a DSI XL or 3DS XL would not fit. I would also point out that Yoshi is not very washable. He did not come with washing instructions but I would assume this is surface wash only, and if he is sat down any place dirty his white fur would go mucky very quickly. If you are looking for a fun and unique way to carry and store a DSI or 3DS - I really do recommend this. If want a very small bag just to carry a couple of tiny things like a phone, MP3 player and a wallet or keys, then this might be fun as well. Finally it really is cute and looks lovely just hanging on a wall or sitting on shelf. But if you want a functional rucksack to carry books, snacks or anything larger than a 3DS - this will not do. I would have preferred a slightly larger pocket, but I do like the fact that this is so well padded and it does not look flat when empty. If you were to remove the straps this would simply be a lovely stuffed toy.
**This review is also listed on Ciao under my username "MonsoonBaby88"** I have been a Nintendo fan ever since I was a child, and one of the first games I ever played was the Super Mario series. From the moment I first controlled Mario on Yoshi, this little green dinosaur, I fell in love. In my opinion, Yoshi is adorable and cute, and perhaps the friendliest little Dinosaur you'll ever think of in games, TV or film. I had harped on for ages about getting a Yoshi plush for my collection of Nintendo merchandise, and finally I acquired one as a gift from my fiance. The Yoshi plush is an official licensed product from Nintendo, and the small tag on it's bottom bears the Nintendo seal of approval to prove this, and you should therefore have no doubts that this is not official. This tag is easily snipped off without damaging your plush if you feel that you do not want to have it on your plush anymore. The plush measures in at approximately 8 and a half inches tall, which is just the right size to sit on your bed, display on a shelf, or give to your young one to carry to and from anywhere. Wherever you choose to put it, Yoshi manages to sit upright on his own without falling over, due to the substantial amount of plushing throughout, and beans in the feet and bottom to weigh it down. You can pick up this Yoshi plush from Amazon for £11.08, which isn't a bad price, although for his small size, it is probably able to be picked up much cheaper than that on sites such as eBay. The plush is also very adorable looking, and looks exactly like Yoshi from the Super Mario games. Like all Nintendo plushes, this Yoshi plush is suitable for young children. The tag states that Yoshi can be enjoyed from the age of 2+, and those buying for young children will see that it is a very safe plush to give a child. There are no small parts which could come loose in wear and tear and children's play. Every part of Yoshi is made up of cotton, including his eyes. A lot of other plushes use plastic eyes which the pupils are often painted onto. Over time I have found that the paint begins to come off, and the eyes get looser, especially if you have children prone to chewing their toys. Therefore it is comforting to know that there is nothing of this sort on this cute little dinosaur. As Christmas is just around the corner, this would make a lovely stocking filler for any Nintendo fan, as it is not only a high quality product, but also very adorable. Children will love it's soft feel, and you can take comfort in knowing that everything in it is safe. There are no parts which children can swallow, as the outside is mainly made up of cotton and velour fabrics. The stitching is excellent, and so this plush should last a very long time before you see any little rips or tears (if ever). So if you know someone who loves Yoshi, I recommend giving them one of these plushes. It is an adorable, high quality, long lasting Nintendo product!
Yoshi one of the most favourite super mario characters out there! He made his first appearance in the awesome game super mario world on the snes, and ever since his appearance many people consider him one of or even the best super mario character. He was loved so much that nintendo gave him his own game super mario world 2: Yoshi's island. And since then yoshi has many other games that involve him being the main character. The teddy itself is a great representation of yoshi, he looks like how yoshi should look (some times you get these items and the teddy looks nothing like the actual character) He has his saddle and his boots and even his big green mouth! Most characters in video games tend to change their appearance from time to time, yoshi hasn't changed much but if you were to compare which game they have decided to base this yoshi from I would say he looks like the yoshi in super mario 64. Overall this yoshi teddy ticks all the right boxes he looks high quality and not cheap and tacky, he still has the cuteness look about him and overall is a good nintendo item to purchase especially if your a nintendo fan.
I am a Yoshi Fan. I have the games, I have the toys - I even have the soundtrack to Yoshi's Story. In my opinion, Yoshi is the best (possibly read cutest) character that Nintendo have ever created. I was given this plush Yoshi as a present and he now has pride of place in my flat. Yes, I am a lunatic. I am after all 32! However, he is just so damned adorable! In general terms, this is a high quality plush toy, good size, great colour, and with no small parts to damage little ones. I can't see a label on my yoshi, but whether that's because it didn't come with one, or because I took it off, I'm not sure. He is washable though, although I've only ever attempted a hand wash, not through the machine. And he does keep his shape surprisingly well, given the abuse he's had here! This li'l 'gween donkey' is just as cute as his incarnation in the games. PS He's not a donkey, Bowser was mistaken!
As you can probably tell by my avatar, I am a huge fan of Yoshi, the cute little dinosaur from Nintendo. I've loved him since Yoshi Story on the nintendo 64, and have played as Yoshi in all party games such as Mario Party and Mario Kart ever since. My boyfriend even bought me Yoshi's Island on the DS for my anniversary present last year, because he knew that I love it so much. My parents, however, broke the mould last year when they got me a cuddly yoshi plush for christmas, and I don't think I've let go of it since. Bear in mind, I am eighteen years old and haven't been a child who loves cuddly toys in a long time, but there's something about this yoshi that I just love. He's about a foot tall, so fits into my arms nicely while I sleep, and is soft enough that I can cuddle him pretty hard without any problems. In terms of appearance, the Yoshi plush is a very good representation of how he looks in the Nintendo games he features in- very very cute, with wide nintendo eyes and little orange boots. He has a red shell on his back, which is used for carrying baby Mario in several of the games, and a small sticky out tail. Yoshi, along with several other cuddly Mario characters, including Mario and Wario, have until recently been available in the majority of Game stores throughout the UK. However, I haven't seen them there in a few weeks, so I don't know if they're getting them back in stock. You can find Yoshi plushies in a wide variety of colours on Ebay, if you're willing to buy things there, but probably also in some Game stores still if you can find them. They retail for about £10, but obviously you could probably find them cheaper on ebay. There's not much else that I can say about Yoshi, except that ther are no small parts to swallow so he should be fine for children (and adults!) of all ages. I've had mine for six months and I haven't tired of his cuteness and cuddliness, so in short, he's a perfect cuddly toy and I would strongly recommend him to everyone.
