Nuby Bug a Loop Teething RIng
Advantages: Good quality, brightly coloured and soothing for baby
I came across this teether when my girls first started showing signs of teething and I realised that they didn't have any. Next time I was shopping I popped into Boots to see what was on offer and this bug-a-loop teething ring caught my eye. It is made by Nuby which was a brand I had heard of and so thought it would be of a high quality, which it is!
What is it?
The teether consists of 20 plastic beads on a double cord which form a circle which can be easily twisted around. 4 of the beads are 'bugs' a ladybird, bumble bee, dragon fly and butterfly, but all are brightly coloured and different textures. It is BPA free which is essential in my mind for a teether.
Both my girls quickly took to these teething rings, when they were first teething and only had tiny mouths they could still fit the smaller beads from this into their mouths. The teether has a lot of raised bumps on it which seemed to help with their teething. As the teeth coming through got further back being able to twist this teether allowed my girls to still chew on it where it hurt.
It is easy for little hands to hold on to and move around as they chew, it is suitable from 3 months but my girls were slightly older when they started using it. The bright colours and in particular the bugs entertained them too and they would go for the bugs rather than the other plainer beads.
As they both liked these teethers I used the straps from buggy books they had eaten to attach these to the buggy. They stayed on the buggy until recently as they liked playing with them, wearing them as bracelets as well as using as a teether.
How have they lasted?
Really well and I'm very impressed, the colour has faded off in some areas but amazingly there are no teeth marks on it. The plastic is fairly hard which allows your baby to bite down on this without worrying about it breaking.
Price and availability
I bought mine in Boots when there was an offer on buying 2 Nuby teethers, a similar offer is on now where you buy one and get the second half price. This teether is currently (February 2013) £5.05 in Boots, £4.27 in Tesco and £7.49 on Amazon so it pays to shop around. For around £5 it is really good value as it will last your little ones through their teething years.
Would I recommend?
Yes, if I could only have had one teether for my girls this would be the one that I would choose.
