      This little piggy finger puppet

Storytelling is not just about reading the words on the page, its about bringing the story to life, making it entertaining and giving children a love of books that will last a lifetime. I think one of the fun ways of reading a classic story is with finger puppets and there are a whole host of books you can get with finger puppets included to help you tell the story. We have a number of these books including The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a Christmas story book but this This Little Piggy Book is my favourite and my kids really seem to like it too.

The story of This Little Piggy really lends itself well to finger puppets as you already use your fingers when you talk about all the pigs in this story. This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed at home, this little piggy had roast beef and this little piggy had none and this little piggy went weeee weeee weeee, all the way home!

This book features a little hand glove on the back and when you put your hand into each each finger is made up of a different piggy. The glove is quite thin and made of a thin felt and doesn't feel very luxurious on your hand like some finger puppets are but I think these puppets are more about telling the story than being a good quality puppet in my opinion. The pigs are really quite cute. They have nice big pink snouts and then some of them have bow ties, most likely the boys and the girl pigs have pretty collars on their outfits. My kids like it when I wiggle the puppets and the pigs do make them laugh.

The book contains 6 pages and the rhyme is contained across the pages. The book is made out of a thick cardboard and is fairly small as it fits into the palm of your hand. The only thing I would say about this is that it makes your hand quite rigid and you can really only wiggle your fingers, not your whole hand like you would with a regular puppet so if you want to go weeee weeee weeee and tickle your little one you have to be careful and make sure you don't hit them with the book but apart from that its very easy to read these book and wiggle each finger when it comes to that piggy's turn.

The book comes in a nice plastic wallet which you can store it in as it has plastic poppers at the top for you to open it with so I think this also makes a nice gift as well and I have given a number of these books to friends with kids too because at just £5 or above each they make a really inexpensive gift.

A cute way of reading this story and bringing it to life.
