“ Brand: Tomy / Age: 18 months „
I bought my daughter one of the full size Aqua Draws when she was about 18 months old. She loved it from the first time she used it so when I saw this travel version was bought out I got one immediately as thought it would be ideal for using in the car on longer journeys and on holidays.
The mat measures around 45cm by 30 cm and comes with one Aqua Draw pen. The mat is simple to use. It is plain white with various colourful pictures around the border. You simply fill up your Aqua Draw pen with water and let your little one draw. As the water comes into contact with the mat it turns blue so your childs doodles come out as what appears to be blue ink.
As the water dries the picture fades and the mat is again a blank canvas for your little ones attempts at art.
The pens have a simple but effectived design. The lids screw on in reverse to what you would expect. So it appears you unscrew to tighten them up. This is means that a child appears not to be able to undo the pen and therefore, prevents them opening the pen and spilling water everywhere.
The best thing about this mat is its so portable. It folds down into a small square and can be easily popped in your handbag. So ideal for taking out to restaurants or peoples houses to help keep your little one entertained.
Obviously the best part of this toy is it is completely mess free. Unlike felt tips you don't end up with a child covered head to toy in a variety of colours and no worries about your sofa or carpet either.
This range to me is perfect for your little one and I can honestly not think of one negative. This set cost me £10 and was worth every penny.
My girls have a large aquadraw mat and a travel size one. I think they are a great idea as it doesn't create any mess and it doesn't waste any paper. Around the edges there are numbers and letters that children can draw over and copy. This is how my Daughter is learning how to draw her numbers and letters. There is also nice bright pictures on them around the edge.
You fill the pens provided up with water (screw caps that screw the opposite way so children don't keep opening them) then they can draw away. There must be a blue backing sheet and when the front sheet gets wet it turns see through so you can see the blue come through. When the water dries it goes back to normal.
You can clean the mats just by usin a damp cloth and the pens do tend to get a bit grubby.
The travel size mat is good for car journeys and my Daughter has even taken it to the dentist while she was waiting for me!
The big mat is for home and the girls have a pen each and love to draw around their hands and feet!
All the fun of Aquadraw but this time it's portable! The Aquadraw mat now comes in a handy travel size so that it's easy to roll up and take with you. Little ones can enjoy creating water pictures while waiting at the restaurant, on the train, at friend's houses, at the kitchen table or even in the high chair. Includes Aquadraw pen.
