Upon the advice of a good friend we decided to buy this toy for my son Alfie for christmas. The toy is suitable for 12 months+ so as Alfie is nearly 2 we thought it would be the ideal toy as it looked quite interesting. We purchased the toy from Boots online for £24.99, however we took advantage of a 3 for 2 promotion they were running at the time so it actually cost us less.

The Sodor Adventure Land was easy and quick to put together and was an instant hit. It consists of a 'helter skelter' style track upon which the 4 trains run. To add to the fun there are several barriers to stop the trains, a turntable, releasable bridge, siding and even a boulder that can be released to add to the drama.

All these features add to the playability of the toy and give ample opportunity for creative play which is enhanced by the easily recognisable characters. My three year old daughter has also had some play out of this toy so I would say it would be suitable up to perhaps age 3 and a half.

The only drawback with the Sodor Adventure Island is that the track can be easily popped out and dismantled and I feel the toy could have been made a little sturdier, for which I would have gladly paid extra. Also the graphics for the bridges and garages are just stickers which are just asking to be be picked off (well in our house anyway).

The concept and design of the toy however make this an excellent buy as I could almost guarantee any child would have fun with it. (Even daddy had a good hours worth of joy with this on Christmas morning)! I would wholeheartedly reccommend it for any 1 or 2 year old boy or thomas fan.
