This was bought for my son as a present when he was 6 months old. We kept it back until he was 8 months as until he could sit up he wasn't really able to play with it - fair enough as it states on the box that it's for 9 months plus.
The helicopter takes 2 AA batteries and has 2 settings - music time and learning. Depending which mode it is in, all the buttons and switches make different noises. When in learning mode, the helicopter tells your child about A,B,C, red, blue and yellow and some basic objects. When in music mode each button either plays a note or a song.
The pilot of the helicopter is a dog and you can also press him to start a song.
The helicopter has 4 turning wheels and a string attached so that your child can pull it along when older. The propellers can be spun and make helicopter noise when you do so.
There are 4 balls (too big for a child to get in their mouth) which can be posted through a hole at the top and the helicopter counts them as you press them in. It's easy enough for even a young child to do and the whole thing is a nice size, chunky enough for little children to handle.
I've been quite impressed with this toy. There are so many different things to do with it and the colours and flashing lights on it make it very visually appealing for young children.
My daughter who is 2 also loves this toy, so I can see that we will be using it for a few years to come.
