      Very helpful

This is another product from the VTech Little Smart range and it is every bit as good as all the others. This particular toy is for babies and toddlers aged 6 to 36 months and it has legs so that you baby can sit with their legs underneath for play. I was having trouble with my eight-month-old because he would not sit up but as soon as we brought this toy home, put it together and sat him in front of it he was sitting up perfectly. We haven’t looked back since. There are so many different activities to capture and keep a child’s attention and I think that this is the reason Matthew sits up so well now. There are two settings, which is common in toys from this manufacturer. The first is words and the second is music. This particular VTech product introduces letters, numbers, animals, people, objects and shapes. It identifies 18 words and plays 9 different sounds. The words are father, mother, brother, sister, bunny, cat, squirrel, dog, aeroplane, boat, car, one, two, three, four, triangle, circle and square. The sounds are various animal noises and the noises made by an aeroplane, boat horn and a car horn, among others. This toy also aids developmental skills as it has a light up screen and flashing stars that activate when different buttons are pressed. This is supposed to provide visual stimulation. There is also a spinning wheel and musical melody roller. The spinning wheel makes a Catherine wheel type sound when spun and the musical melody roller plays “London Bridge is falling down” also when spun. There is a butterfly shaped book which has pages to turn and insect shaped beads to move around, these are both brilliant for helping to develop co-ordination. Behind the shaped beads is a discovery mirror to entertain your baby. Matthew loves this and is always looking at himself through it (however, this could be a sign that he will be very vain;+). The buttons are all shaped like musical notes, shape
s and animals to help with identification of different things and the light up screen, butterfly book, spinning wheel and musical melody roller are all decorated with colourful images to further develop these skills. Even though there are all these great features in this toy the one thing that captures Matthew’s attention the most is the role-playing phone. It has a handset, which detaches from the phone and four buttons with images of father, mother, brother and sister on them. If you press the buttons a ringing noise is made and then the word describing the relevant person is spoken. Matthew loves that he can take the handset off the toy and play with that all by itself, never mind the fun he gets from pressing buttons to achieve different effects. Other excellent (and sanity saving) features of this toy is the parental volume control on the back and the automatic shut off feature for if you forget. It is easy to assemble and take apart which is ideal for storage and transportation. This toy requires 2 AA batteries which were not supplied with the one I bought, however, my sister in law has the same toy for her daughter and she did get batteries with it. I guess that whether you get batteries or not depends on how generous the store you purchase it from is. It has been a very worthwhile buy in my opinion and has further cemented my faith in VTechs products.
