Advantages: Good fun

Disadvantages: Nothing

This was brought for my son when he was about 6 months old for Christmas. He was a little too young for it then but it wasn't long before he was able to play with it more easily.

I wouldn't recommend giving it to children younger than the recommended 9 months as my son used to grab hold of it, which was very easy due to the plastic piping running over the top of the cow, and then when he was lying down he would always manage to hit himself in the face with it. The base is quite heavy so it would swing in his hand and whack him. When he was older he had learnt more control over what he picked up and was OK with it.

Basically the toy is a flattened cow, which has runners over its back. At the end of each runner is a little toy that can be passed over the runner to other side. Also at the end of the runners are little buttons that if pressed will play moosical tunes or sound effects.

There were animal sounds and also an Old MacDonald's Farm song.

My son did enjoy playing with this a lot but I found he got frustrated as he got older because he wanted to play with the little toys attached to the runners as separate toys and obviously they don't come off. He eventually lost interest in this at about 18 months old and went on to play with Duplo which was more tactile.

I think this is still worth it and being Vtech it is good quality and will last well. The batteries never needed replacing all the while we had it (a year or so) and it cleaned up really easily.

These can be picked up in most good toy shops for around the £10 mark.

Summary: RECOMMENDED xx
