Having previously purchased from the toot toot range I knew we'd be on to a winner with the extra vehicles. From the moment my son laid eyes on them his little face lit up. Winner.
I purchased these from eBay for £15 and the set consists of a car, a van and a truck, all bright and colourful to hold the little persons interest. My son is 1 and so doesn't quite grasp the concept of playing with them with his other toot toot purchases but they offer great entertainment in themselves and he'll happily play with each in turn across the floor and pressing the buttons to make them speak, light up and play their own catchy music.
A great aspect of these is that they do grow with your child, for example they all interact with the toot toot garage that we have and so when hes old enough to play as intended that in itself will begin to hold his interest. For now, they are big enough to play safely being from 12 months and I have no safety concerns as they do not come apart.
My husband does have a complaint that they are quite noisy and annoying, however what 1 year olds toy isn't, and he certainly doesn't complain when they hold his interest long enough for me to get the housework done!
I bought these toot toot cars to go with the vtech toot toot garage for christmas last year. My son was just over 2 years old and he liked these cars very much. They are chunky which means they are easy to hold and roll around the floor.
He didn't use them much on the garage so it's not a necessary purchase if you want to use these cars. He enjoyed pushing them around on the floor with the music on although if you have all 3 of the cars playing music at the same time it can get very noisy and a little over stimulating so we used to have just 1 car playing at a time.
I would recommend these from 9m+ although it says from 12m because they are quite chunky meaning it's easy to hold and I would say they go up to age 2 as my son no longer has an interest in them and hasn't done for a few months now.
For my daugthers first birthday I wanted to get her a variety of toys, not just "girly" ones. I wanted to get her some cars which are suitable for her age. When I saw these on Amazon I knew they would be perfect.
~ Price and Availability ~
I have seen these in many toys shops, also online in major online toy shops. I got mine from
Amazon for about £12, they RRP for £17.
~ The Toy ~
You get three toy vehicles car, van and truck. Each of which are brightly coloured with its name on the side and a chirpy face on the windscreen. They are very attractive for little children who like the bright toys and are quite study so look like they will take some throwing around!
They are quite chunky with no loose bits so are ideal for smaller children.
They recommend 12months+ however, I cannot see why they cannot be givens to children a bit younger ie able to sit alone/crawl. They are relatvely light, so easy for small hands to pick up & not too much problem if they are thrown!
Each toy plays a different sound track, with a song describing the vehicle ie "I a yellow car, Toot Toot, beep beep!"... and vehicle noises.
They never fail to catch my daughters attention if she is getting a little grumpy (teething at the moment), and always makes her grin. You can make the toys start the sounds by either running them along the floor or pressing the vehicle windscreen, which is a very easy to press button.
When the music/sounds is playing the windscreen flashes making them bright and attractive.
I quite like the sounds that come from them, however, it can get a little much when all three toys are singing their own little song at the same time. I can see why some people find this a little annoying. But I find myself singing along, not really a toy if you are easily annoyed!
I find that these are good to encourage crawling. As you can roll them and have your little one chase. They do roll quite easy on my carpet.
The little phrases will help with vocabulary, and also word recognition ie car/van
These are good for when she is a little older and doing more of a role play imaginative games, so hopefully these will last a while.
If you do get annoyed by the music, there is an off switch on the bottom and these can just be used as a normal car.
~ The range ~
You can also buy a fire enging/police car/amulance set (around £15) and a garage to run the cars in (£35-40). Which I am considering getting to add to the set.
~ Batteries ~
Each car takes an AA battery each, we are still on our first set. I will do an update when they run out of juice...
~ Overall ~
These are one of my daughters favourite toys at the moment. She can crawl around with them, bash them together, dance to the music and press the button, all of her favourite things at the moment. I would definately recommend them.
