Advantages: easy to do.
Disadvantages: none
I am reviewing a 4 piece dog puzzle. This is in the same series as the fish puzzle I recently reviewed.
This wooden inset puzzle is made by falcon it is a jumbo puzzle (it's not large though).
This inset puzzle is suitable for a child aged over 1 year old, probably best for a 2 to 3 year old. I think this puzzle suitable for a 5 or 6 year old if they still have some manual dexterity problems
The square wooden base is 22x22 cm square about 3cm deep.
There is a plain wooden border about 1cm wide and there is then some green representing grass and blue for the sky there is a yellow sun in the sky area . A dog shape is cut out of the puzzle, also the dog's dinner bowl.
The 4 puzzle pieces that insert into the shapes are the red dinner bowl and the dogs head then the dog's front leg and half body then the dogs back leg and half body. The dog is a light brown colour with a few white spots .The puzzle pieces each have a fair sized rounded easy to grip peg attached,
This puzzle is quite easy to do your child will work out which piece goes where and be able to fit the pieces , The pegs make it easier for a small hand to manipulate the puzzle pieces .
To begin with sit and do the puzzle alongside your child showing them and helping them to fit the pieces to make the dog. Praise your child have fun talk to them about the dog its legs its tail its eyes show them the dogs bowl it does have some food in it. Your child will develop their language if you talk to them about the puzzle.
A peg puzzle is easy for a child to use easy to pick the pieces up and place in the correct position. The pegs on a puzzle help your child perfect that pincher grip that we use in writing. Puzzles help your child's fine motor skills.
Puzzles help your child's hand eye co-ordination. Working out which piece fits increases their visual spatial awareness.
Doing a puzzle helps your Childs concentration puzzles like this are a good early learning tool.
Would I recommend this dog peg puzzle? Yes.
