      Yuk!

I'm not a huge desert fan but occasionally I do fancy a little something after a meal. Yogurts and ice cream will never really be my thing and me, well if I'm looking for a quick and simple pud I like tinned fruit with either a small can of cream slung over it or some custard. The other day whilst in my local Aldi store I spotted these tinned peaches at 29p a can and decided I really had a craving on for them with some said cream so I bought some! The Packaging: 420g can with an orange label around it. On the front of it I'm told they are 'Sweet Valley' Peach Slices 'Delicious sweet peach slices in a light syrup' and that this can provides one of your recommended fruit (or vegetable) portions a day, that they are suitable for Vegetarians and are gluten free. There is an at a glance nutritional chart on there, and a photograph of the peaches. On the back of the can other information includes ingredients, storage instructions, a full nutritional rundown and contact details for Aldi all being listed. Nice enough looking can and it's informative enough too. The Peaches: Well open up the can (there is no ring-pull) and your greeted with a crammed can of orange coloured, slightly glossy segments or peach with a slightly sweet aroma. They are stored in a slightly murky looking thin syrup and plenty of it. I plopped some the segments into a dish and was impressed with the size of them. They were large, well shaped slices of peaches opposed to bits and looked plump, fresh and tempting. The syrup provided was far too much so I only added a little to my peaches and away I went. Unfortunately appearances can be deceptive!. Sure they tasted of peach and were delicately sweet and although they looked good they tasted really soggy and they went to slush in my mouth almost as soon as I put one in there! This to me impaired the flavour entirely and I didn't appreciate the somewhat gloopy texture at all. Not too sweet though and they do look good maybe these would be best suited as an ingredient in flans or in a jelly or something like that but to be eaten alone...well they just weren't for me!
