Until recently, I hadn't bought any ready made icing, except fondant icing for topping christmas cakes with. This isn't because I think there is anything wrong with using pre-prepared products, I just really enjoy making my own. I find it a satisfying last step after a long baking session. Recently though my friend gave me some unused Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Icing, which she had over bought when catering for a family event. She never wanted to see another lot of icing again, and she knew I wouldn't let it go waste! THE PRODUCT Betty Crocker make a whole range of baking kits and accessories. This is the only product of theirs that I have ... Read the complete review

I've been doing a bit of baking with my little sisters over the last few months, I'm not all that good at it myself so am always looking for stuff to help make things easier but also things that will make my cakes and biscuits taste better. The shop by me has had Betty Crocker cake stuff on special offer since last week and I only paid 89p for this 450g tub of ready to spread frosting icing. I got a chocolate fudge flavour but think there might be at least another 1 flavour available. It comes in a tub so you just have to use a spoon or a knife to get the icing out and spread it onto your cakes. You need to give the icing a good stir before you use it and ... I decided to give this product a go after seeing the advert for it on TV. My wife & I bake regularly & this icingg just looked so nice that I had to buy it. It is a ready made chocolate fudge flavour icing. When you open it you will see that it is very thick & luxurious although it is not a paste like a royal icing. You can't get the rolling pin out & lay it on a cake. You put it on your buns or cake by spreading a thick layer wherever you want it. It cost around £1.50 from Tesco & comes in a decent size tub that would easily cover the top of a 7 inch cake. We used it on chocolate buns & still have half of the tub left. You ... I love baking and eating the fruits of my labour! I like to think that cakes are one of my specialities. I make wedding cakes and birthday cakes (not professionally) for family and friends - and friends of friends. One of the things I quite good at making (if I don't say so myself) is chocolate fudge cake. I often use a good chocolate sponge with a heavy does of chocolate fudge icing as the basis for a novelty cake. Making the fudge icing isn't tricky, you can just get a bit sticky! One day whilst doing my internet shop with Ocado I noticed on offer Betty Crockers 'Rich and Creamy, ready to spread' chocolate fudge icing. I decided to give it a go and try it out to see . Betty Crocker products are very good. This icing in particular. I constantly use Betty Crocker's products as I had nothing to do when I moved in with my boyfriend so I started baking with mixes. I wanted to do something other than little fairy cakes that don't fill anyone. I started making bigger buns with mixed food colouring and then putting one of Betty Crocker's pots of icing on top of them. Simply get a knife and scoop the knife equivalent of a spoonful and twirl it around the sponge. I make my cakes look like something out of an M&S advert with a knife and this icing. It is in a standard mug sized pot with a foil lid. The use-by date is ... Read the complete review
