The bases tend to have a long shelf life, they are vaccuum sealed in a foil bag within the box but when you get them out they feel quite fresh and look doughy and slightly floured. Basically you can add whatever you want to these bases and then they cook within 10-12 minutes on a middle shelf in the oven. I usually wait until I can see that the toppings are cooked and the cheese is bubb...more

Napolina Large Pizza bases: Get A Pizza The Action (422 words)

Trying to economise on the shopping recently and also trying to be more aware of exactly what we ware eating, I decided to buy a twin pack of these Napolina pizza bases for £1.42 in my local Asda. I figured we could simply use up whatever was in the fridge as toppings as this way it would be cheaper than buying from the fresh pizza counter which we sometimes do as a lazy Friday night treat. Buying the bases this way also means I can measure how many weight watchers points I am eating and can choose no point toppings to keep within my daily plan. Each pizza base contains approximately 7 points -this is worked out on the weight of the base, each 100g contains ...  Read the complete review

We are all pizza fans in our house and used to buy quite a lot of Goodfellas margherita pizzas, but at £5 for 2, it was proving quite expensive. I finally decided it was time to start making my own. I am a reasonable cook but there was no way I was going to make my own pizza dough, so when I saw Napolina's pizza bases I decided to give them a go. I am glad I did, because they really do make a great base for our fortnightly pizza meal. Napolina pizzas bases come foil wrapped in a box. You get two large thin, crispy bases which bake in only 10 minutes at gas mark 7. I like to start my pizzas off with a good layer of tomato puree. It is ...  Read the complete review

Napolina Large Pizza bases: Grab a pizza the action..... (421 words)

Napolina Large Pizza bases Description: Manufacturer: Napolina / Type: Baking Aid. Almost everyone I know loves pizza, but of course, likes different toppings. When friends came round for pizza, we used to order takeaway which proved expensive and as everyone is trying to save money, we began looking for cheaper alternatives. Unfortunately, we moved a few months ago, which means that we are no longer close to an Asda either (In my opinion, the best pizza's around are Asda's steak and cheese with BBQ sauce which they make up fresh with your choice of base - they beat any takeaway by a mile!). We have recently began making our own ...  Read the complete review

Anyone for pizza?? (403 words)

I usually keep a pack of these in the cupboard for a quick meal. They are a good size for one person - about 8 inches diameter. The bases can also bee frozen or just kept in a cool dry cupboard for several weeks. They are really easy to prepare. Just unwrap and place on a pizza tray or baking tray that has been lightly greased. I then use a jar of Napolini pizza topping to make the tomatory base and spread this across the pizza. Its then just a matter of adding any topping you fancy - any type of cheese, ham, olives, thinly sliced sausage, basil leaves, tomatoes, pineapple, the list only really ends with your imagination. A little olive oil can then be ...  Read the complete review

Napolina Large Pizza bases: Biscuity or doughy? (650 words)

Just recently my partner and I have got a bit fed up of shop bought pizzas because of the bases. We call the bases either "biscuity" or "doughy" and most companies seem to use the biscuity type base we don't really like. By biscuity I mean it isn't bread like (like the ones you get from a takeaway, yum!) and it cooks so it goes hard and crunchy like a biscuit. Pizza bases aren't really supposed to be like this and we're not fans of the biscuity type base. With that in mind I decided to try some bases that we add our own toppings to to try and find one we liked. First on the list was these Napolina bases. These are the large ones and in the pack .  Read the complete review
