Mitre Ultimatch 18 P
First of all I must mention this is not one of the easiest reviews I have written. To me a football is just a football, as long as it flies into the net when I kick it I'm happy. However as I have been playing with one of these balls for a while now I thought I should give it a review. So the last few times I've used it I've tried to think about exactly what it's like. I'm sure this is why I have been on a bit of a goal drought of late.
Anyhow, the Mitre Ultimatch 18 P is a very nice little football. Its round! Is mainly white but has a funky little blue slash over it. The panels are woven together very nicely and the ball has a good solid feel to it. It curls well and yet stays pretty straight when you want it to. The ball doesn't seem to lose much shape when you kick it and it stay pumped up very well. The ball bounces well and seems to do everything a good football should do.
We have been playing with this ball for quite a while now and it seems just as good as when it was first bought. This means that it's pretty durable and does not easily lose it's shape or feel. We mainly play with this on Astroturf but have also used it on grass where it performs equally well. My friend is a goalkeeper and he says it can swerve a little in the air, but not a crazy amount so this is probably a good feature.
The ball is available in three sizes. 3,4 and 5. To give you a clue a normal football is size 5 and this is the one we use, but for children buying a smaller ball can be a good idea. The price really depends upon where you get it from, but online you can pick one up for around £13 which isn't to bad as it seems to last for quite a long time.
Overall I would say this is a very good football. Again it's really hard to talk about something like this as most footballs are pretty much the same. But I suppose that fact that you don't notice much about this ball shows that it's a good one. It basically does exactly what it is supposed to do which can't be a bad thing. We have been using this for a while and if it carries on performing as it has done I see no reason why we won't be using it for a lot longer. Or at least till someone whoofs it into the river!
