Advantages: Helpful staff

Disadvantages: Inflexible when it comes to charging, hard to get hold of somebody in authority

I am all in all very pleased with the Abbey National. I have banked with them after opening my first current account when I was 18 and throughout all these years they have been helpful. Last year my hubby was dismissed while off sick and we had no income!! Not much fun with three children in the house and when he phoned up to explain the situation they extended the overdraft for us and helped us organise the direct debits etc. We have several accounts with them as well as the current account, savings accounts, insurance, credit cards the lot. The counter staff at our local branch are always polite and even smile!! They have been very prompt to answer the telephone and when we had money debited from the account without our consent they investigated and returned our money.I did not expect the level of service we have received with them. You hear so many bad news about banks but for us it is brilliant.
